THE LOW SLUNG 1. 7 LITRE BOXER ENGINE AND MECHANICALS FROM AN ALFA 33 IN A VERY LIGHT BUT EXTREMELY RIGID BODY MAKES THIS A WONDERFUL AND FAST DRIVERS CAR. BEING SO RARE AND UNUSUAL IT GETS NOTICED WHEREVER IT GOES.

BUILT DURING 1996 AND 1997 BY A PERFECTIONIST ENGINEER. WHO WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN SETTING UP THE MINARI REGISTER WHERE THE CAR IS EXTENSIVELY FEATURED:

I have known the car since it was being built. and brought it 3 years ago from Dave Smith the original/builder owner (see him in the second part of the YouTube program). as I knew just how special it was. Dave built it with long distance touring in mind initially with a 1. 5 boxer engine. but later replaced this with a 1. 7 8 valve (with slightly hot cams) engine that it retains to this day. He fitted it with electronic cruise control (that I have never used). a stereo system that at the time was 'state of the art'. it has a 10 disc CD player hidden away. and is remote control (that is what you see mounted on the removable racing steering wheel). there are 4 speakers and it provides an amazing audio experience even with the hood down at speed. He also fitted very loud supplementary air horns.

Being an Alfa Romeo enthusiast I bought the car because I was looking for something that would be allowed at Alfa track days. and wouldn't deteriorate when stored outside. The Minari has exceeded my expectations in every way.

Despite being a rare car. the enthusiasts at the very active Minari Register hold all the knowledge needed to keep these little beauties on the road.

No expense was spared when the car was built or during the 34. 00 miles it has covered in 19 years. In my care it has had a new radiator and the cam belts were changed earlier this year.

There are inevitably stone chips on the front of the car. but the 19 year old paint still looks truly amazing. The GRP body must have been made to boat hull standards. because there is absolutely no evidence of deterioration. She has always sailed through MOT's. which when I consider the driving on the limit I have inflicted on her on the track. is both staggering and testament to the robustness of the original kit and how it was put together. /strong>

I am only selling due to lack of storage space due to my submitting to the temptation of an even more amazing (and expensive) Alfa Romeo based track day car.

Minari's are now considered Classic Kit Cars (Richard Hammond was right when he predicted this). I think you get Lotus 7 performance in a chunky great looking car with a lovely raspy exhaust note but at an MG Midget price.
