A superb 1992 Volkswagen Scirocco MK2 1. 8 GT2 with just 69. 00 genuine miles.

History

Bought new from Isaac Agnews. Belfast by Save and Prosper Group on the 12th of October 1992. as a retirement present for one of their employees. A Ms Dawn Brown. This therefore made Ms Brown the second owner and was the named owner right up until a classic car enthusiast bought the car a number of years ago. who maintained the car and got it regularly serviced. Timing belt was changed on the 5/08/13 with 60. 75 miles. I purchased the car in March 2015 and drove it daily for the duration of that summer and what a drive it was!! This even included a 666 mile round trip from my home in Tyrone down to Kerry and back. which it did with ease! In my time. I have replaced the fan belt. fuel pump. fuel filler pipe. oil plus a few little ancillaries. All the handbooks are preserved beautifully in the original grey Volkswagen Folder and even has the original salesman card! The car still has the original dealer license plates and dealer sticker in the rear window.

 This car is one of the last MK2 Scirocco's to be sold. as production ceased in the same year.

Exterior

Finished in Alpine White. the paintwork still holds a great shine today. A few stone chips have been touched up on the bonnet and the top half of the driver's side wing has seen paint. All arches and underside is solid. as is around the filler cap. Wearing the original BBS RA's which are in great condition. The car had been fitted with clear front indicators and a rare eyebrow spoiler. which really set of the crisp monochrome look.

Interior

The interior is entirely original and 98% in the same condition as the day it left the showroom. One little wear patch on the lower bolster on the driver's seat. smaller than a thumbprint. on otherwise perfect checked bucket seats. The rear seats were rarely sat in and therefore as new. The dash is pristine and uncracked and still holding the original Blaupunkt radio. The digital clock has unfortunately bled over. Steering wheel. gear knob and handbrake are as new. with no wear at all. In the boot you will find the complete original tool-kit and the unused space-saver wheel. both in perfect condition.

Engine

The 1. 8 carb petrol engine is running like a dream and a joy to drive. As mentioned benefited from a timing belt change 3 years and 9. 00 miles ago. The automatic Carb is working perfectly and starts instantly both on cold and warm starts. The detailed engine bay is a delight to look at and a reason to lift the bonnet at shows. Even factory applied wax around the bay has had the grime carefully cleaned of it and really emphasises the originality of this car. The only drawback is that some of the sound deadening under the bonnet has come of down through the years.

Specification

The GT2 was one of two run out models on the last of the MK2 Scirocco's along with the Scala. This had quite the trim level compared to previous models. with factory fitted equipment such as electric windows. Blaupunkt Canberra CM-41 radio. tartan check racing seats. tinted windows. tilt and slide sunroof with draw blinds. colour coded body kit and bumpers. front fog lights. tinted tail lights and BBS alloys.

This is a great example of the classic Scirocco and definitely stands out amongst modern traffic or at a show. A classic that is starting to recognise much deserved attention among classic car enthusiasts.
