1979 AUSTIN MINI 1000/1275GT for sale
Current customer rating:
Hi there! For sale is my much loved 1979 Austin Mini 1000 named Ernie with a 1275 GT engine. which has been increased to 1310 It originated as a brown mini 1000 automatic and then later converted to a manual and had a full re-spray to Rover Tahiti Blue Pearl. This was also when the engine was replaced to a 1275 GT engine with a sported up cam and metro A+ carburettor making it 1310 cc. It also has a full RC 40 exhaust system. which gives a lovely subtle low rumble.
The bodywork on the car is great apart form the front end that needs new wings and front panel. This is due to a hole around the passenger side wing and small hole between the drivers side wing and front panel. One of the wings and maybe the front panel could be repaired. but one wing will definitely need replacing. All three body panels can be bought for £150! So itd not a huge job! However at the same time please don't be expecting a pristine faultless car. it's 33 years old!
The car has Revolution 12" wheels with Yokohama A 539's on. It has disc brakes on the front and drums on the back. Inside the car is in its original condition. with only a couple modifications. being a pair of 6"x 9" speakers in the parcel shelf and a stereo under the dash and a smaller steering wheel fitted (i still have the original). These can be removed or sold with the car.
The car comes with 5 months Tax and Years MOT. It's just passed the MOT with only one advisory. which is ‘exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases'. This is very minor and is very common on old mini's according to the garage.
The modifications that i have done to it in the past year and a half are:
New discs. pads and pad kit on front
New steering column
New Exhaust Manifold
New carburettor
New alternator
New halogen headlights
New Sony stereo worth over £250 and speakers
New Spark Plugs & Leads New Distributor cap. Rotor arm and choke cable
New Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder
New Wheel bearing to the driver's front side.
Engine tuning. giving it another 20 hp approx.
2 New front Yokohama A 539 tyres on the back.
Welding to the passenger side floor pan. carried out by a professional mini specialist.
I have owned this car for 18 months now. and get many looks wherever i go! In mid 2000's it went off the road. where it had a full rebuild and the changes were made. I have a folder with tons of old MOT certificates and receipts for work that's been done by myself and previous owners. The V 5 document is present and it shows a 1310 engine like it should.
The car has currently got the rare desirable Registration of EAT 843 T. I'm still unsure as to whether i take it off or sell it with the car. If i got the right offer i would leave it on the car. I also have a few other bits and pieces. which will be sold with the car. including the original steering wheel. a spare set of group 2 wheel arches. set of clear lens tailights and the original headlights. Plus a few other bits and pieces i have accumulated along the way!
I am being as honest as I can I have loved owning this car and am only selling as I need something more practical for commuting. I would like this car to go to a loving home! Where it will be cared for and appreciated as the icon it is. Please feel free to contact me or
