The Morris Minor was launched in 1948 and produced until 1972 in three main phases. Innovative. and striking in its day. the Minor had superior road manners and is still great fun to drive today. Travellers. tourers and early cars have gone up in value recently and are becoming more and more collectable but they still represent superb value.

This car is a 1949 “MM” series “lowlight” saloon. The chassis number. SMM 8227. confirms it as an early car. It was exported to South Africa and remained there until 2007 when it was brought back here and subjected to a light restoration to the highest of standards. At this time the decision was taken to replace the lethargic side valve with an “A” series 948cc engine. We are great fans of this conversion. it is broadly correct for the era if not for the year. transforms the car into one that is useable in modern traffic and is by far the sweetest of the engines fitted to the Minor range. There are one or two other upgrades including a brake servo. electronic ignition and the original “Vyanide” seat facings have been correctly replicated in hide.

This Minor is one of the very best we have seen – it's best described as show standard and hard to fault – the underside is as new. the interior trim is superb and the panel fit and paint finish is A1. Everything works including the original trafficators. it drives perfectly and the subtle upgrades allow it to be far more practical than just about any classic built in the 1940's.

Rare. beautiful. certain to appreciate and offered here for a fraction of the cost of buying and restoring a lowlight to this standard. thanks for looking.
