Totally rust free genuine Citroen DS 23 Pallas 1974
She had spent her whole life in Gaborone. the capital of Botswana. before being imported into the UK last year.
Gaborone is 500 miles from the sea. with very good roads and a desert like climate.
For these reasons the car is in remarkable original condition. having seemingly covered just 70000 miles from new by 2 previous owners. ( I have a copy of the Botswana log book )
She has never been welded. re sprayed or disassembled.
The seats are vinyl and in fantastic condition. There is no wear to the driver seat. and the rear seat look like it has never been sat on. The carpets are the original deep pile woolen carpets. and show some wear on the sills and heel holes to the front. The headlining had deteriorated and has had to be replaced with new.
All the panels are original and completely rust free. There are various dents and scratches. a chip of paint missing on the aluminium roof. and stone chips to the bonnet and front wings.
All can be seen in the photos. if you look carefully.
Much work has been carried out on the engine since last year. Too much to list. and it has all been overseen by a DS specialist of over 40 yrs.
The car hadn't been used for at least 10 years. when it arrived in this country. so the decision was made to remove and referb the engine and parts. before trying to start it.
The cylinder head had a rebuild. and new parts included. the timing chain. clutch. engine mounts. starter motor. exhaust. ( part stainless ) bearings. gaskets pipes and seals etc etc.
Hydraulic pistons were rebuilt . spheres renewed. and brakes overhauled. I have kept all the receipts for parts. so you can see exactly what has been done over the last year. if you are interested.
Everything fits and works perfectly and she is an absolute pleasure to drive. I will be very sorry to see her go.
