Due to very little time to enjoy driving my classics I am probably going to sell my original 62 original rag top bug. otherwise known as EDNA. Blame the wife!

She is an import from Arizona. and as far as i can tell. never been welded. everything looks original. The paint is original and has small dents. scrapes and carries off a nice. natural patina throughout the car. She has been separated from the pan in the past to have light resto work done. but it seems no welding.
It also has a cool original dealer logo on the front quarter panel. The bumpers have stickers etc on from old horse events in the states dating back to the 80's. I think that's cool!

Inside she is all original. headlining and carpet etc all very 'patina'. Seats have been retrimed by Trim and Tonic in original style fabric but don't look out of place. The ragtop was also done in blue mohair and is still like new. It has what I believe to be a Speedwell steering wheel. worth a few quid alone! Also has an original radio. not working. but have not looked into why either. Also has an ozzy blind in the rear window and Albert wing mirrors.

The chassis is lowered using 2" narrowed beam and new KYB short shocks and a couple of splines on the rear. recent steering box She has drums all round but this bug stops very well. I believe it has a dual circuit master cylinder fitted. not sure what else has been done. It drives fine for a bug lowered without drop spindles. a little bouncy but adding the spindles should cure this. Sitting on standard period steels up front and rears are banded to 5. 5.

Now for the engine! She is running rough at the moment since being in Storage for 4-5 months. I can only presume it is stale fuel in the carbs and I will be looking into this as soon as possible. Spec as follows. as given by a previous owner.

1835 barrels and pistons
counter weighted crank
044 heads super magnum duel spring 42mm inlet 35. 5 exhaust
engle 110 cam
heavy duty oil pump
flamethrower coil and billet distributor 
alternator conversion
bmd serpentine pully kit
Big f**k off webber carbs - not sure what size.
Scat steel pushrods
bolt up rockers and elephant adjusters
vintage speed exhaust 

All this is strapped to a GT gearboox.

My reason for selling is. much as I appreciate old VWs need regular work I am getting pissed off with the engine. I have had to uprate the pushrods to scat steels due to flexing caused by the dual spring heads. I have reduced to valve gaps to 0. 2thou (I know what i mean). as advised but the rods make the engine a little noisy. I was told this would happen. Strengthened alloy tubes would sort this but I can't keep throwing money at it. I also fitted bolt up rocker shafts as I thought it was madness to use stock shafts on an engine with this spec. I have not used the bug for 5 months and had started to prep her for volksworld. I am now frustrated as she does not run well due to the suspect fuel issues and will miss the show as have had no time to fix it. This lack of time and the harsh speed bumps in my area just makes me think I should sell it on.
 No offers of swops or trades.
I have the right to remove from sale as advertised elsewhere. I am not giving this away so don't expect a bargain. If I don't get what I'm after I will raise the suspension slightly and fit a more stock engine. This engine is a lot of fun but I need more reliability due to little time to work on her. Please be aware the engine itself would cost over £3000 to build with the parts fitted.
