I could say that this is A rare opportunity. but i am going to say it is the only opportunity to own this car which was driven by the great Ayrton Senna. When he left karting he had 3 races in this car. The engine is a minster engine one of only 3 and "Brother" to the famous "patch"

this engine was built by the famous Trevor Van Rooyen (look it up on tens tens. ) the porting on the head is fantastic. There is a hewland Mk 9 gearbox with this car. This van diemen car has been locked away for many years. by a reclusive private collector. It has all the original features. It also has the original bodywork This car has duel history with such a great driver and engine. If this car dose not reach a realistic price i will remove it from the listing As I have it advertised elsewhere. the gearbox has been checked and to be found is in like new condition i have added some photos of the internals and cwp and also of the back casing. we have also gone through the engine and i have shown some photos of the porting on the head what was done by Trevor. The hard work has been done to this car all that it need doing to make it a great car with provenance is the chassis powder coating. and suspension nickelling. He drove this car in rac and pno championship races. engine number 583
i will add the am number when i get to the workshop on the 21 st october 2004 Andrew Kitson the man who worked close to Trevor Van Rooyen rote this. on 10 tenth

My theory.

I believe. as do many others. that Patch was built originally by Trevor Van Rooyen in 1977. but Graham Fuller would probably deny it.

Trev built two motors and won 33 races that year including the RAC British FF Championship in his semi-works SDC Royale RP 24. They were badged as Ministers. Tv R built them on the bench at Royale. used Ministers dyno and Dave Minister loaned the blocks/heads and provided the parts. In return he had results - Minister beating Scholar and Trevor had free DIY engines. I was gofer for Trevor in 77. Ralph Firman and Scholar protested Trev's engines so many times. Always legal.

Tv R went back to ZA to a paid drive in Atlantics for '78 for Team Gunston. so the engines stayed with The Royale team and were used in the works RMC RP 24. then RP 26 of Kenny Acheson. Kenny blew up one of the motors in testing. It went back to Minister and was not seen again. for a year or two.

David Minister admitted in an MN interview that Trevor was the best engine builder he had ever known and he didn't really understand how he made the power he did. Tv R told me once it all came from his days racing bikes. trying to eek out as much power as possible from 125 cc.

Well I reckon that Graham & David inspected that block. tried to work out what was so special and realised they could probably patch it and try to run it again. No other Minister at the time was as quick. apart from Trevor's second engine so why bother patching a run of the mill motor?

Moreno used it. o did Senna. Bailey. Gilbert-Scott. Blundell etc etc. Chances are it WAS Trev's blown motor. but even Trevor is not 100%. Minister after all would naturally want the credit as they always owned it and it was always badged as a 'Minister'.

I have added a photo of the patch engine this engine i am selling with the car is the "brother" to patch if you look at the photo of patch it has a t 20 block back in the day minster tended to use the t 20 block has it being the thickest walled block you can get. The engine listed also has a T 20 block. I would like to add more photos but i can not has the maximum is 12 overseas buyers welcome. On 31-May-13 at 21:37:12 BST. seller added the following information:

if this car dose not move on i will be removing from sale as this car is advertised else where. The gearbox a loan are around £4500-£5000 to buy now that's if you can find them it was only last year i sold a gearbox a loan for £4000 so this car has to make a realistic price. lets not forget this is a full car complete with engine and gearbox plus great history. So lets get real!

Ayrton Senna da Silva's debut. 1 March 1981 was impressive. but not sensational. finishing fifth during a P&O Ferries Championship (Formula Ford 1600). driving a

Van Diemen RF 80. A fortnight later competing in the Townsend Thoresen Championship. Senna totally dominated the race despite a very heavy downpour. winning by 9. 4 seconds during 15-lap race on the Indy circuit. This time driving a Van Diemen RF 81. Few knew beforehand that this race would make history – Senna first win

in this race the people on the team was Enrique Mansilla Ayrton Senna Alfonso Toledano car raced Van Dieman rf 80

All though senna was successful winning in the 81 car. This was the first car he raced being the rf 80 this car was pivotal to his success has this was he's first car that he came 5 th in the P&O ferries championship It got him noticed for hes great talent that he had then he later went on to race in the 81 car. the RF 80 car that i have for sale is a very important peace of motoring history it belongs in a museum being he's "FIRST CAR"

I am re-listing this item as clearly the buyer did not fully read my listing as i stated to be paid for within 7-10 days or a reasonable deposit and not as the buyer wanted. at least a months grace. I have a genuine reason for sale

I wanted to keep this car as a investment but due to needing the money for land development i have decided to sell i could only hope this car would go to someone who will appreciate it

at this price it is a gift.

Hi Marcus, remember me? I bought the RF80 off you nearly two years ago. Any news on when I'll be getting the outstanding parts that I paid for, but you have not supplied?
Please reply or I will bid on this car, to stop you selling.
