1954 Commander Starliner Hardtop
232 c. i. V8. auto trans. recent California import with very solid body shell. Original colours Sandusky Beige over Shoshone Red with Beige vinyl trim could be cleaned up and used. Options include Philco ‘Starline' 8 tube' push button radio. tinted glass all round. clock. heater. oil bath air cleaner. etc. Looks to have been a recently running car although we have had no time to investigate further. Parts are readily available from Studebaker of Australia in Brisbane. I bought this with all intentions to restore it but have too many other projects and not enough space. If you are a regular car show goer like myself. how many of these have you seen? Be different! Studebakers are no harder to work on than other US makes. and as I mentioned above parts are no problem. at prices mostley cheaper than other cars of the same era. No trades thanks. Even in Studebaker circles this is a rare car. and with the USD Vs AUD exchange rate this is a great opportunity.
