Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from. the Stag was styled
by Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoque
construction. independent suspension. disc/drum brakes. br/>power-assisted rack. pinion steering and driveline of that Saloon.
The powerplant. though. was an all-new OHC. V 8 of 3000 cc capacity
fed by a pair of Stromberg carburettors.
This well appointed. French blue Stag was completely restored in
1992 at an expense of over £6. 00 which was not an insignificant
sum in the early 90 s. This restoration included a full engine
re-build and bare metal re-spray with photographic evidence
accompanying a myriad of bills demonstrating it was clearly a
labour of love for the previous owner. Unfortunately. the car only
covered some 1. 00 miles in its fabulous restored state before it
was left to storage. so had not seen the open road since 1993.
Having been stored for that long. when the car finally found a new
home it needed some re-commissioning. This included a new brake
overhaul. stainless steel exhaust and some work to the engine as
you may expect. The chrome work. interior and paint work is all in
very good order and the dash and cockpit have no splits - which can
be symptomatic of many Stags.
Offered with a new Mo T certificate. countless bills for
restoration. hard top with a good soft top hood and a photographic
timeline from its original restoration. the vendor states that this
is one of the best Stags he has worked on and talks glowingly about
the body and chassis. A lovely example with a history that breeds
confidence in its ability. we are sure this will not be shy of
admirers.
