1965 AUSTIN Mk1 MINI COOPER S GREY/WHITE for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 767 votes

For sale is my cherished Mk1 Cooper S; the definitive mini.

Now listed with "Buy It Now" and "Make Me An Offer". depsite having over 4000 viewers and over 400 watchers previously. people seem reluctant to bid or want to try a cheeky deal after the aution has ended. so this is much better for all - make an offer at your price and I'll either accept or decline.

Relisted with lower reserve as not quite reached last time

Having been pulled from a barn in 2009. this car has undergone extensive restoration over the past 3. 5 years to bring it to the beautiful car that you see today. The car was MOT'd for the first time post restoration on 24th May 2013 and although Tax exempt. has a valid 12 month ticket from the same date.

My intention was to use this car for sprints/hillclimbs/track days. but having completed it and spent so much time and money on it. I can't bring myself to use it in anger. so instead am offering it for someone else to enjoy.

I have a ring binder full of receipts for this car and I'm sure there are still things I have missed despite the comprehensive list above.

A very clean. tidy if not completely original example - your chance to own a motoring legend.

For security reasons. any viewers will be asked to meet at a location other than where the car is kept. Genuine buyers shouldn't have an issue with this and prevents the non-genuine coming back after dark to take the car for free.

More pictures available on request. including shots throughout the restoration.

eBay messages will be answered ASAP throughout the day or call 07815374125 after 19:00 weekdays and anytime weekends.

No delivery. You bid. you buy.

Some additional notes to help answer some questions:

- Registered on the V5C as an Austin MIni Cooper S with CA2S7-6***** chassis number. but I do not have a heritage certificate for the vehicle. If you are in any doubt. before bidding I suggest you contact me to make an appointment to view.

- The car was red when I purchased it as was the colour on the logbook. I have changed both.

- There were some advisories on the MOT: 1 ball joint had play. handbrake required adjustment. brake pedal had little reserve travel. play in rack inner ball joint. I have rectified as follows: Ball joints checked and lock tabs bent over (I forgot to bend the tabs initially). handbrake was adjusted by Slark RE before the ticket was issued. The pedal travel was due to me leaving the bias valve fully open from bleeding the system. it is now adjusted and the pedal is good. The only outstanding item is the rack. but included in the sale is a spare rack which has no play in the ball joints.

- I had the valve guides replaced by South Cerney Engineering. the head only went back on last Wednesday (with new head gasket. thermostat gasket. exhaust & rocker gaskets. new valve stem seals. nbsp;fresh antifreeze and new oil)

- Due to the value this is likely to fetch. strong> I will only accept in branch money transfer with the winning bidder. I would want to go to a local branch together so that we can both witness the funds being transfered and confirm receipt into my own account. If we use different banks we will go to my bank to confirm receipt before returning to my house to complete the paperwork and hand over the keys. Cash will not be accepted due to laundering or counterfeiting.  Any genuine bidders should not have an issue with this. my feedback should speak for itself.

Whilst the original listing was running. another eBayer did some research on the vehicle and in the interest of being fair. honest and open with all buyers I will share the information with you:

I've checked out your chassis number and though I still can't confirm it was originally an S it is recorded with the MCR (Mini Cooper Register) as being red originally. was 1275 when recorded by a previous owner and that with the chassis number beginning with 6 it must have been manufactured after Nov '64. Which ties in with the 01/05/1965 registration.

The eBayer also pointed out that the car has a full skirt front panel (as you can clearly see in the fourth picture) which were only available up until September 1964. along with some other indications on the body. it would appear that somewhere in its life this vehicle has been reshelled into an earlier Mk1 shell. This eBayer did later come back to me though and confirm that the chassis number & engine number on the log book are both correct for a 1965 Cooper S - apparently many log books were frigged in the 70's & 80's.
