That Jaguar's XJS will become a 'bona fide' classic is beyond
doubt. Launched in 1975. its twenty one year production life was a
testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all round
independent. coil sprung suspension. power assisted rack and pinion
steering and disc brakes. its excellent ride/handling balance was
justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's
superlative 5. 3 litre developed some 295 bhp in later fuel injected
form and when allied to automatic transmission gave authoritative
150 mph performance. The targa element of the car was often
preferred over the straight convertible as it added more torsional
rigidity and was therefore more enjoyable to drive than the later
convertible.
Finished in Grenadier Red with Saville Grey leather trim. this
was one of the last cabriolets produced. prior to the full
convertible being manufactured. This also benefits from having the
sporty TWR front and rear bumpers. boot spoiler and side skirts.
Supplied with a V 5 registration document and a current Mo T test
certificate together with a history. good XJS's are becoming
increasingly difficult to find. Rare models such as this cabriolet. br/>in good order. will always have a strong following.
