1938 Ford De Luxe Convertible Sedan
Very elegant '38 Ford Convertible Sedan! One of only 2. 43 built in 1938! Fitted with its correct 221 ci Flathead V 8 and 3-speed manual transmission! This was Ford's most expensive model at $900!
Ford's styling queues had evolved tremendously throughout the 1930 s and by the end of the decade. not only did cars get facelifted every year but there was also distinguishing characteristics between standard and De Luxe trim levels! 1938 was a significant year in that it marked the last year of the Phaeton and brought handsome new designs that would have influence through the beginning of the war.
Ford cars started at $500 and went up from there the most expensive car in the line-up was the 4-door. 5-passenger convertible sedan. with a base price of $900! It was a price that only a few were willing to pay and only 2. 43 of these big touring sedans found homes!
We are very excited to offer this 1938 Ford De Luxe Convertible Sedan! It is finished in a marvelous and period correct shade of Zephyr Beige over brown vinyl interior and wears painted steel wheels with trim rings and “V 8 hubcaps” wrapped in 8. 00-18 Ford / Universal Tire Co. 4-ply tires.
This Ford is still powered by its correct 221 ci Flathead V 8 and transmitted to the ground via a 3-speed manual transmission.
The motor has been fitted with upgraded cast heads for greater drivability.
Furthermore. the car is fitted with rear bumper guards. radio & antenna (functional!). dual side-view mirrors. rear-view mirror. blue dot taillights. banjo steering wheel and more!
This Ford shows 63. 42 miles. which we have no way of verifying as correct or incorrect.
The car comes with a spare tire and cover in the trunk. as well as a boot cover and all associated convertible top hardware.
The car is most recently out of warm and sunny Florida and shows incredibly well! The paint and chrome. while not perfect. are very presentable and should certainly attract positive remarks among Ford enthusiasts.
Purists will also like the fact that the car retains 6 V negative ground charging.
This car comes fully serviced and ready to take on any local cruise night or show and should make the next owner very happy! We would look forward to answer any additional questions you may have on this rare '38 Ford Convertible Sedan! Thanks for looking!
