Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 476 votes

Offered for sale is a 1962 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible that is an excellent driver and offers great deal of restoration potential. This great cruiser features a numbers matching and completely rebuilt 389. 303 HP V8 4BBL engine. original and rebuilt three (3) speed automatic and rear-end drive train. and completely rebuilt or replaced suspension. brakes. and fuel lines. The car has both power steering and power brakes. It includes the original generator. carburetor. starter. water pump. distributor. and fuel pump. The interior is very original. and the leather seats are in good condition. with relatively minor wear and only a few small tears. The carpet is in good condition. The majority of the instruments work. including the original radio. clock. heater/defrost. wipers. horn. turn signals and lights. The car starts easily. runs strong. and does not overheat. It drives straight. handles well. and drives tight and right. The car is very fast. and stops easily.

The exterior and body are what I would characterize as a 20 footer. The paint is faded and dull. and has some scratches. It was repainted a number of years ago from the original white paint color to the maroon/red color if features today. The body is relatively straight with very few dents for an unrestored car. The body has some rust issues. with visible cracks and bubbling over wheel wells. quarters. and rocker panels. There are visible rust holes at the lower end of the body panels under the car. The trunk seems to be solid. but has surface rust as can be seen in the pictures. The trim is complete. but chrome trim and bumpers show pitting. tarnish. and surface rust. The back bumper was hit. and shows some denting. The interior chrome is also complete. but again has pitting and tarnish.

The white convertible top is in okay condition. but the top up/down control will not raise or lower the top. I believe the issue is the hydralic fluid and lines. The pictures show that the rear plastic window of the convertible top is not installed. but I have it and it will be included with the sale of the car. The car radio antenna is in the trunk. and is not installed on the car. The gas tank is missing and will need to be replaced. The car has a temporary fuel cell tank in the trunk. so the car can be driven and enjoyed until a gas tank is installed under the rear of the car. The dashboard top has some cracks and tears as seen in the pictures. Also. there is a small chip/hole in the front windshield. that should be easy to repair. The heavy metal spoked/chrome rims are in good shape. but have some surface rust. The car features Vogue tires that are in good condition and should last for a few more years of cruising fun.   The odometer shows 27. 00. but I assume that there are really 127. 00 miles on the car.

This Bonneville is a great driver and had over $10. 00 invested in rebuilding the engine. drive train. suspension. and brakes. There are less than 2. 00 miles on the car since the rebuild of the engine and drive train. The body is presentable and good for cruising. and the interior is nice. The car runs great and handles very well. It is fast and fun. and lets not forget. it's a convertible. While the body. paint. and trim/chrome are not perfect. this car is a great candidate for a full restoration.

The 1962 Bonneville Convertible is a highly collectible car. with NADA values ranging from $24. 50 to $83. 60. and Hagerty values ranging from $14. 00 at the low end to nearly $70. 00 at the top end. The car is very original. and features the original and numbers matching 389/303 HP motor. drive train. and rear-end. The car can be driven today as a weekend cruiser. or restored to top quality with a very good chance to increase the value to more than cover the cost of a full restoration. This car offers a lot of potential.
