RETRO, SUPER COOL MORGAN INSPIRED THREE WHEELER BY JZR for sale
Current customer rating: (550 votes ) based onWith Morgan's recent reinvention of the third wheel. some really prominent car collectors and serious enthusiasts have been buying into the super cool. retro image of their awesome new three wheeler. It's become an absolute must-have to own a V twin powered trike in your cherished car collection. but at around thirty two grand as an entry level into this exclusive club. it clearly isn't for everyone.
However. also inspired by the design of Morgan's earlier cars. a respected specialist manufacturer. JZR has been making their own similarly styled version since around 1990. Despite a small hiatus around the turn of the century. the hand crafted manufacture of these little jewels still continues to this day and they're truly superb!
Feeling more like the open cockpit from a WW I Biplane than a motor car. you can see why the Owners Club is known as the JZR Pilots Association!
Although a small sports car like this with only 500cc of V twin motorcycle engine pulling you along may not really set the Tarmac alight. whereas most anodyne cars these days make one hundred miles per hour feel like fifty. this classic. Morgan-esque JZR. manages to make fifty feel like a hundred! It'll rev happily to a heady 9500 rpm - it's an absolute hoot!!
The exacting and detailed build was completed as recently as 2009 and with very positive attention from the authorities at VOSA. they issued the vehicle with a correct donor related period number plate. This car therefore avoids the usual stigma of the awful Q plate registration which can sometimes be associated with hand crafted vehicles and have a seriously detrimental effect on values.
Please bear in mind too that this particular JZR is the stylish and streamlined Beetleback body type rather than the arguably incongruous. some might say awkward looking Barrelback style. with a spare wheel hanging from the rear of the car.
The exquisite attention to detail is brought to life by the careful use of aeronautical quality stainless steel fittings. stainless braided hoses and a stainless steel exhaust system complemented everywhere by beautifully polished aluminium and chrome. New brake components and suspension uprights combine with brand new steering components and electrical items to offer a finished product that today still looks almost new. The lovely machine-turned lightweight aluminium dashboard incorporates the original donor related instrumentation for spot on accuracy but also features classic items such as a chrome map light and a Cobra or Jaguar style push button start.
Settle into the snug two seater cockpit on the simple but upgraded leather faced upholstery. and immediately everything you thought you knew about driving a motor car seems to have changed. Ahead. the driver (pilot) and brave passenger can see the wide track of the wire wheels and all the workings of the delicate chromed suspension wishbones. and then you see it all again. reflected back in the convex chrome headlamp bowls down through the stylish. alloy rimmed Brooklands aero screens – it's most bizarre!
Belt yourself in. set the manual choke. check the warning lamps and instruments. and as the rapid starter healthily spins the liquid cooled V-Twin into life. the machine comes alive and quickly settles to a busy yet surprisingly civilised tickover with a unique off-beat burble.
Depress the super light clutch and snick the neat alloy headed sequential gear lever back into first and almost immediately there's a satisfying clunk as it engages gear positively and the drive to that fat single alloy rear wheel is taken up through the clever use of Honda's smooth shaft drive.
Driving the JZR is like nothing else I've ever experienced – yes it's raw and visceral and really exciting even at low speeds and it certainly sets you apart from almost every other driver as a pure motoring enthusiast. However. unlike a Caterham which is a hyper-accurate road going weapon. capable of incredible in gear speeds. the JZR has a rather more genteel air about it although it certainly draws the crowds when stationary and admiring glances. thumbs up. waves and even filming whilst on the move.
The Honda CX500 V-Twin is renowned for its simplicity. strength and reliability and according to the extensive history file. this one has been fastidiously rebuilt with new tensioners etc to ensure a continued trouble free life. It runs like a jewelled watch and really suits the character of this somewhat unusual car. Without the fragility of old fashioned mechanicals. this stunning bullet shaped machine can really be used and enjoyed and with the prospect of some warmer spring and summer weather ahead. what could be more fun?
From the new tyres on sparkling chrome wire wheels from MWS. with stainless spokes and centre knock-on spinners. period style wire headlamp stoneguards. alloy Le Mans style flip fuel filler. aero screens and delicate teardrop side marker lights. there's traditional motoring nostalgia in abundance yet when it's combined so seamlessly with state of the art modern mechanicals and the outrageous acid yellow colour scheme. this superb JZR Three Wheeler offers a real contemporary spin on a traditional formula. much like the new Morgan but at less than a third of the cost. With low road tax. great economy and no crash helmet required. take this unique opportunity to own something really exciting and unusual and dare to be different. Although a car of this standard is never going to be the cheapest available. it is undoubtedly one of the finest with an exemplary quality to its build and a fastidious attention to detail - try me. you may be pleasantly surprised. but please don't bombard me with questions about the Reserve. Please call at most reasonable times on 07801 813777 to make arrangements to see it or ask any other questions. Please bear in mind though that the vehicle is advertised with other classic car media and although I would expect the auction to run to its end. if it is sold beforehand. I reserve the right to remove it from this listing.
Please also note that the cherished number shown on the car will not form part of the sale and the vehicle will retain its own age related plate. However. there are many valuable spares available for the car including a complete V twin engine.
Also. whilst I appreciate the level of interest shown already from mainland Europe. I cannot readily assist with shipping as I have little or no relevant experience. I am however only around 65km from the port of Hull which has excellent ferry links to Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.
Thank you
