'70 Dodge Challenger T/A. Sublime Green. 4 spd. Rear Window Louvers!

This gorgeous Sublime Green 340 Six Pack T/A has lived a charmed life. trading between the climate controlled. carpeted garages in California. Georgia and Florida. collecting trophies along the way. The most remarkable thing about this T/A is the optional equipment. Hi-Impact Paint. Rear window louvers. 4 spd with console. rallye gauges. 6 way driver's seat. 3. 91:1 rear axle. Concours restored. correct details abound. hard to find correct "E" series polyglass front tires. and "G" series rear tires. manifold heat shields. etc.

Equipped with her original. numbers matching engine. she is documented by her original fender tag in addition to the Galen Visual inspection. She currently resides in Blue Earth. MN and is kept in a climate controlled environment.

Exterior

Paint and body work is proof positive that quality of work and not how recent a restoration is determines condition. The crisp of the quality paintwork also gives testament to careful ownership of this vehicle. She is stored in a climate controlled facility. cleaned and detailed after every show or drive. All the panels are well aligned to one another. doors closing with a push of the finger and a “click” closed. There is no evidence of significant rust remediation. crash repair. or body panel replacement. The glass is all correctly date coded. You may find louvers or “sport slats” many muscle cars. but very few ponied up for this rare “J 68” option when new. One way to quickly tell is the rear window molding. Factory louvered cars got black window molding to blend in with the black louvers. Most aftermarket kits do not include this important component.

Interior

The factory interior on this car is tremendous. It combines all the most sought after features from the legendary E-body. Rim-Blow Steering Wheel. Pistol Grip Shifter. “Thumb-Dial” Radio. and Rallye Gauges. The overall condition is excellent. showing little to no wear on high-touch soft-trim or plated surfaces. All instruments and electrical accessories are in full working order.

The trunk is also properly detailed out with the correct mini-spare. filler bottle. and bumper jack assembly.

Engine Bay

The engine bay was refreshed to bring it to current concours standards 2010. The attention to detail is evident. from the PVC valve and intake coolant hose properly painted engine block HEMI orange. The ground cable was replaced after painting. Date code correct. original 3 x 2 bbl Holley carbs grace the factory original Edelbrock SIX PACK intake. The details continue with OE spark plug heat shields. factory Chrysler logo stamped hoses and plug wires. and a modern gel cell battery cased in factory original yellow cap case. The plated finishes are also very good. the wiper motor for example is the right cad plating. most are an overly brassy. almost bright yellow as opposed to this- a correct mellow gold.

Chassis

This car was restored “over the top” to exceed fit and finish of the original manufacturer. If you are familiar with factory quality control of the 1970's. you would agree- that

is a good thing. Instead of primer with body over-spray and 'undercoat goo' sprayed all over seams. this Challenger T/A's undercarriage is painted body color. with the same finish as the top of the car. The suspension is fully detailed with each part properly painted or plated to match OE factory finishes. What you will notice is how clean the under-body is. Most older restorations show rust weeping in the exhaust. leaf springs. and plated surfaces. Restored cars that are driven and not properly maintained begin to show fluid leakage that stains plated parts and eats away at painted surfaces. This car shows neither of those conditions. With minimal road wear. this car is ready for show or go!
