Packard Four-Hundred Coupe:1955 with Factory Air at NO Reserve for sale
Current customer rating: (484 votes ) based onOur current Packard Esquire project necessitates the sale of this fine 1955 Packard Four-Hundred Coupe in Fire Agate and White Jade factory colors. This car was in an auto museum for many years and after our purchase. we replaced or rebuilt almost every mechanical item in the car including: NOS radiator. generator. fuel pump (electric auxilary and original). shocks. new dual exhaust. front end components. points. plugs. you name it! This Packard features a fully functional Torsion Level Ride system with levelizer.
Coupes are always better collectible investments and this one will not disappoint. It is NOT a show car but certainly looks like one. and with a few improvements. it can be one of the best examples. This Four-Hundred solves any Ultramatic transmission problems as the strong running Packard 260 V-8 is mated to a late-model GM 400 transmission. The car benefits greatly with almost imperceptable shifts and increased fuel economy. This car also features the rare FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING. The system does not operate. but all the components are in place for restoration. [The speedometer has also recently stopped working. so mileage given is about 100 miles over the stated mileage at present. ] The clock and radio also do not work at present. The power seat is fully functional.
This Packard's interior is mostly original The high-quality carpet set with vermillion banding was installed by the previous owner. Some sections of the upholstery are still under vinyl covers! The paint on the car is a high #3 although it shows like a #1. There is very little surface rust and absolutely NO rust through anywhere on the vehicle. The car's four power windows operate beautifully. This coupe is also very weathertight. especially for a hardtop model. Chrome and stainless are generally good but the front and rear bumpers should be replated. All service records from both private owners and the original manual come with the car as well as an NOS rear trunk lock. key cover. and reproduction Packard crest escutheon (see photo).
This Four-Hundred has a modest reserve and is a strong running wise investment for the Packard collector. We invite your personal inspection at any time during the auction. Please note our 100% positive feedback. We are proud to be Packard club members. This car has been re-listed due to a non-paying bidder. Please note that this bidder never inspected the car and his refusal to pay has nothing to do with the quality of the Packard listed here. If you are not serious. please do not place a bid; it does great diservice to E-Bayers who try to play by the rules. Thanks!
On Jun-09-14 at 08:34:58 PDT. seller added the following information:PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS AUCTION DOES HAVE A RESERVE. WE HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY TO CORRECT THE LISTING TITLE TO NO AVAIL! IT SHOULD READ "AT MODEST RESERVE" not "AT NO RESERVE"!
