This is a truly wonderful find. YHR 2 has been owned by the same family from new. The Wolseley was bought new by a lady in the Bath area on the 3 rd May 1961. and when she was 92 years old the car passed onto her nephew just three years ago. The car has covered just 75. 00 miles from new and comes with the most exceptional service history that includes the original Wolseley 6/99 maintenance service voucher book. BMC passport to service book and late 1970's/1980's Leyland Cars service book. We also have MOT certificates dating back to 1974 and invoices from Austin/Rover dealers for servicing throughout the 1980's. The three service books have a total of 32 service stamps. all from garages in the town of Bradford Upon Avon.
The Wolseley has wonderful provenance and this is the first time since supplied new. that the car has been on the open market.
YHR 2 presents remarkably well with good quality paintwork and straight body panels. The chrome work is very smart having clearly been renewed in recent years. The underside is excellent. as you would expect with a car that has been spent its whole life cherished. The interior retains lovely cream leather. good original headlining and excellent door cards.
The carpets have been replaced recently but we will be fitting a high quality set for the cars next owner. The engine bay is remarkably original. untouched and ideal for the enthusiast who enjoys detailing and improving. Tyres are in very good order. as is the original glass and trims.
On the road the Wolseley is fabulous. The strong. smooth six cylinder engine performs superbly and the automatic gearbox changes up and down effortlessly with no clunking between gears. The brakes are sharp. the suspension feels superb and the general handling is very good.
The 6/99 offers surprisingly impressive performance and is more than adequate to keep up with modern traffic and even motorway use. This is a beautifully preserved luxury saloon that still retains its valuable original registration mark and impressive history file dating back to the 1960's.
