Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 414 votes
For sale is my lovely condition Triumph GT6 Mk111 with the very rare. rear seat and overdrive (3rd & 4th)
this car was built of the production line in December 1972 and 1st registered in February 1973.
i have an extensive library of photo's and receipts which provide a very good historical catalog of work and parts purchased for the this GT6.
I purchased the car about 5 years ago and have made several improvements. not limited to;
New clutch. new gear linkage. new alternator. electronic ignition. new (bespoke and much advanced) prop-shaft.
The car is pretty unmolested beyond that. i do not like any major aftermarket addition as you can see i take the car to shows etc and it received many. many comments. this is if you've done your homework. an appreciating classic car and will continue to increase in value. i'm selling it due to a a house more and new job relocation as well as the i've always had the thought of getting back to having another convertible. So the timing is now for me. i'm in no hurry to sell as i have this tucked away in a large now under cover for the winter and will stay there until the right "custodian" come along with the cash.
the runs extremely well. no oil pressure loss and pulls in all gears. overdrive works as it should. I've spent many hours fettling the engine and the carbs to get it running sweet and it does. The underside is completely solid with no rust. When i fitted the new clutch i also sound proofed the cabin. No rips or tears in the seats. with the only exception on the armrest where i have patched a piece of leather. (continue to look on Ebay for one to come up!) but the patch is a good repair (see interior photo). Unmolested that the head is original. there is zero smoke so topping up with lead additive at the garage is no concern and part of the joy of driving a classic. Engine temp is constant at all times.
the car is nearing 45 and just sailed through its MOT with no advisories in July.
The car is stunning in my view but not concours but if this was your intent. it would not cost a huge amount to get it there. I consider the car extremely good condition and very presentable. I have a plethora of magazines to give to the new owner. there is an extensive photo album of the restoration work done around 8-10 years ago. many receipts and MOT's going back to the 70's in a concertina folder.  Chrome work is in most part. good.
Good points;Kenlowe fanupgraded alternatorupgraded propshaftminilite wheels (set the car off perfectly)Overdrive2+2 seats (very rare to find)recent front seatsrecent service. oil. plugs. (done religiously)strong 2L engine New rear drum brake shoes and recent front discs)longer wheel studs fitted all roundstainless steel sports exhaustRecent clutchMaster cylinder Slave cylinderCarb rebuild. gaskets and balancedElectronic ignitionNew gear linkage fitted after replacing the clutchNew Starter Motorpoly suspension bushes. spax suspension
Bad points;there are 3 very small (5p piece) dents on the bonnet (closed it with tools on the rocker - i was furious!) plus small area of rust just starting at the lip of the offside under the wheel arch. (have been quoted £400 to have the entire bonnet repaired so have considered this in my evaluation) not visible standing looking at the car. the clock has recently stopped working (was intermittent) < £50 on Ebay to find the right spec. the radio is not wired in (Radiomobile) i never use it and purely there as a period feature. i prefer to listen to the engine! again < £50 the passenger door sometimes does not open from the outside (will be a mechanical fault and i have the spare locks to give the new keeper i purchased but never got round to fixing this issue)2 fan blades have snapped (i have a replacement to go on) the Kenlowe fan actually does the work anyway. Radiator bottom hose shows signs of cracking ( i have a new replacement to go with the car)
these bad points are very minor issues and nothing too difficult just will take time to finish off. i recon all within £500. as i give many parts with the car free.
So the price. this is very subjective but i have been watching the price on these increase over the past few years and it is destined to continue if you listen to the experts. Please don't come tyre kicking. as this will save us both being offended. This is a true British classic vehicle and not many left in this condition. i'm interested in considering offers. but looking for the selling price. You might get a few % if i really like you and think you are going to look after it!
and finally this is a near 45 year old car. i bought this because i like the classic car culture and shows etc and have enjoyed doing most of the mechanical work myself. it does have slight marks here and there only commensurate with age. The car is garaged for all the time i have owned it and not planned driven in the wet (unless i got caught)
If you are looking for a low maintenance classic car with appreciating value to drive and enjoy. this look no further. This has to be one of the simplest cars to work on.
the cushion stays with me by the way!
thanks for looking
i reserve the right to remove this add at anytime as i am also advertising this car elsewhere. Looking for a Stag or similar next year if it all works out.
any questions you can call me on 07949 596 345 or message me and i will do my best to get back to you quickly.
