1972 Rover P6 3500 V8 Auto

Here for auction is my Rover 3500 P6 V8 Auto. It is showing 65. 43 Miles on the clock and has an MOT until 16th July 2016. Overall it is in average but usable condition but could be improved to make a very nice example. Below I have outlined the good and bad points of the major areas of the car.

Engine:

This P6 is fitted with the 3. 5 Litre Rover V8. The engine is in good order; it starts readily whether hot or cold and shows good oil pressure. It has recently had an oil and filter change along with a new oil pump. 8 new spark plugs with HT leads and distributor cap. The Choke needs some attention as it retracts by itself so makes starting when cold slightly fiddly. On the road it performs well. doesn't smoke or overheat and makes no worrying noises.

Gearbox:

The Gearbox is a BW35 3-Speed automatic. It has recently had a transmission oil change and changes smoothly. All settings work including reverse.

Interior:

The interior is in reasonable condition. all of the seats are free from tears / holes etc. the fabric on the driver's seat has become a bit baggy. The leather on the steering wheel has become unstitched in places. The interior lights aren't working and seem to be missing their covers. The heater. lights. wipers etc. are all working. Some dials aren't working properly; the fuel gauge only registers ¼ of a tank regardless of how much fuel the car has in it and the rev counter doesn't work at all. It has had an aftermarket radio fitted which doesn't work very well and has had holes cut into the door cards for speakers. The doors also don't lock properly.

Exterior:

The car is presentable on the exterior. I would say for the car to look its best it would benefit from a respray. The bonnet shows some signs of oxidation to the aluminium. There are a few bubbles in the paint on some panels. All 4 doors are rusty at the bottom and the Webasto sunroof is torn in two places.

Wheels and Tyres:

The van has 14-inch steel wheels with original rover wheel trims. I had 4 new tyres fitted earlier this year. The spare tyre is flat and very old.

Keys and Documents:

There are two sets of keys with the car along with the V5c and MOT certificate. The mot expires on 16th July 2017 the advisories are as follows:

Rear exhaust fouling on body

Rear Exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases (7. 1. 2)

Nearside front wheel bearing has slight play (2. 5. A. 3c)

Offside front wheel bearing has slight play (2. 5. A. 3c)

The V5 is showing 3 previous owners (the last owner having acquired the car in 1984) unfortunately there isn't a great deal of history with the car so I am unable to guarantee the mileage as genuine.
