1940 Ford Standard Tudor hotrod Flathead V8

Thanks for looking at my 1940 Ford Standard Tudor auction as you can see from the pictures it has been modified as a nostalgia style hot-rod.

I have owned this car for over 10 years. I don't need to sell it so will not be accepting any silly offers.

I won't be swopping for your Nissan Micra. or shipping it to a Prince in some far flung continent.

I just fancy a change. if it doesn't sell I'll just keep on using it

The Standard in the title refers to the front end styling . the other version is the Deluxe with a more complex grille.

Tudor is an americanism for two door

This is a very desirable car in the USA and very rare in the UK.

In my opinion the Standard is the better looking version

I have never seen another Standard and seen only 2 Deluxes .

Cars of this period dont come up for sale very often.

It was imported in at the end of 1991 I have the importation papers and its last pink slip ( US registration document).

There are a loads of receipts from previous owners for bits and pieces.

I cannot take any credit for the work done.

The previous owner gave me these details.

4” dropped I bean front axle from Total Cost Involved

Shocks and anti roll bar from Pete and Jakes

Steering damper

Single leaf springs from Durrant

Plastic fuel with electric pump

48 Ford rear axle

Front brakes from a ‘56 F100 truck

15” Mercury Wheels

Converted to 12 volt with Ron Francis instrument voltage dropper.

During my ownership it's had

new front grille outside sections ( originals were broken when I bought it )

new headlight chrome surround bezels

new bonnet trim

new full clutch assembly

new electric fuel pump

boot lift kit from Mr. 40

new exhaust system from Pipecraft

Dual carb set up maybe available via seperate negotiation

It is tax and MOT exempt.

There is no spare wheel as the tyres are different aspect ratio front to rear to add to that classic hot rod nose down big and little stance

The engine is a V8 flathead its mated to a 3 speed column change box .

The engine is very strong . the box does jump out of second on overrun so you can't use it for engine braking . This  I have been told not is not unusual . you just have to modify your driving style.

The brakes are more than good enough to brake and steer into the corner in third then drop down to second and accelerate .

It doesn't take long to adjust to it .

Remember this is a 74 year old car with lowered stiffened suspension . the exhaust is loud . it doesn't like pot holes . it's not going to drive like your everyday car.

It will leave you with a grin on your face .

I strongly suggest if you are interested you come and have a look and i'll take you out for a drive . You can drive if your experienced in LHD and can show proof of full insurance coverage .

The car and paper work will only be released to you after full payment is received . preferably bank transfer

If any of the watchers are interested but think I'll wait and if it doesn't sell then I'll have alook when its relisted next week .
