Here we have for auction my early low light deluxe bay who is affectionately known by many as the Rum Bus for obvious reasons! This bus oozes old school patina and faded paintwork.
Add to the mix traditional sign writing and you have one of the coolest buses around. But don't be fooled by the sun bleached paintwork as this bus is 100% rock solid.
please check out the cab floor. the front steps. the sills. the gutters and the arches.
You will not find any repair panels. any welding nor the need to do any either.
It really is that solid.
Many show buses have needed sills and repair panels grafted into their bodywork.
I have drowned this bay in wax oil in an attempt to make sure it never needs this type of repair or you could drive a cool bus with loads of character with a smile on your face knowing that it hasn't had a list of sections "welded in".
This bus contains only Volkswagen steel!
The bus has recently had a full brake overhaul including cylinders and shoes.
It rolls on BRM's and is powered by an excellent 1641 rebuilt motor breathing gently through two correctly jetted twin 40 Dellotos.
This is mated to a later Bay gearbox which makes for an excellent drive.
This is a genuine turn key drive anywhere bus which was driven all over the UK last year. Also has alternator conversion and old school fan housing to complete the look.
The inside is a blend of old and new retaining the original cab seats. the cargo floor is fitted with a mad mats chequered flooring and the interior unit is a brand new tranzwagon affair with much storage space.
The rock and roll bed is 3/4 width.
All is trimmed in luxury grey autotrim carpet (as found in T 5's).
This is topped off with a brand new headliner. The main and much photographed feature is the original rum barrel which has been skillfully halved and creates an excellent storage pod and currently houses a second battery.
It is detailed with neon lights which look so cool when camping.
Obviously the vehicle is tax exempt and will be sold with an new MOT.
