First sold in 1969 to a doctor in New Bedford. MA. nbsp; that owner and his family enjoyed the car until the late 80's and approx. 125. 00 miles. nbsp;when they advertised the car for sale in a local paper called THE BARGAIN NEWS. nbsp;clipped copy of the advertisement included in the photo link below. The car was bought by a local car guy and his wife to be restored and driven by her. they shared a passion for  the GTO and he still owns a few rare cars to this day.

Removed from the road in 1989 when a frame off restoration began by the previous owner/enthusiast  (only one owner prior  to their purchase)  sadly. after a few years of work. the gentlemen's wife became terminally ill and work on her car was put on the back burner. sadly she passed on and the car sat in storage for many. many years. Finally last year he offered the car for sale and I purchased it from him basically site unseen. I own a body shop and saw the potential in this very solid very unmolested GTO.

Here is a list of some of the work that was done prior to my purchase.

Body off frame. everything disassembled. sandblasted and painted. All new brakes. bushings. shocks. complete Gardner exhaust ( purists let it be known that he chose a 4 speed system over an auto because he did not want the bulky resonators that the auto system included)
Numbers matching 400 YS code was bored . 30 over. crank ground . 10. heads all refreshed and everything assembled with a new stock grind  camshaft and all TRW. ERFECT CIRCLE AND MELAN high volume oil pump.

The numbers matching 400 PX code trans was rebuild and beefed up with a little more aggressive shift by a well know transmission shop here in Plainville. ct.

The WH code 3:55 rear end was cleaned up. resealed and painted.

The interior is all original to my knowledge with the exception of the carpets. all in very nice shape with just a hint of patina that I prefer over a brand new reproduction  interior kit.

Convertible top . tension springs. pads . ell and seals are all  just weeks old.

The body well. that is what sold me on this car. being in the business. I know what it takes to complete proper metal work and this car needed ZERO. the previous owner that had started the restoration had stripped the body to bare metal. replaced the skins of  the rear quarters  and did some work on the outer wheel wells. done with Pontiac metal but from a donor  coupe. this was done near seamlessly. The rest of the sheet metal. floors. trunk. doors. fenders. rockers etc are all original and rust free.
You will see the pictures of this car in bare metal. that is what I chose to do to it because even though  car was primed and ready for a block and paint when  I bought it. having been done so long ago. I wanted to use only the current state of the art materials from  bare metal to finish clear coat.

In the link below you will see many trunk pictures. no I did not forget to paint or get lazy. I figure the new owner will inspect the  floor and then spatter paint it themselves. I want the proud owner to see just how original the trunk is. I will include 3 cans of spatter paint and top coat.

Since being completed the car has been driven around locally and runs. drives and shifts great. turns heads. people love the color combination and the timeless look of a GTO.

Well. that's about all I have for you. please look at the posted pictures and also follow the link to view many others that show everything possible that I have.
Reserve is set realistically and I am only selling it because I just purchased
a second home and the cash would be nice. nbsp; certainly not a fire sale. There are many GTO convertibles on the market in various states from 100 point cars to very nice drivers. this car in my opinion based on my knowledge of the quality and originality of the structure I feel it's value is on the higher side. this car is not a Pig with lipstick that was just polished up for resale. a wonderful car. investment quality.

I can be reached at my office during the hours of 8am and 4pm to help answer questions or to set up an inspection.
