1978 Fiat X1/9 X19 Bertone ‘Seria Speciale' Limited Edition Exterior: The car was painted the acrylic blue it is now in 2005 over the original coat of light blue. the car was not dis-assembled. so it's all factory tight still. My intention was to get it re-painted in its original colour eventually but. I have decided to restore a Fiat Spider instead. This car should look like the last photo to be correct again. There is rust in both the doors and bonnet. I have rust free replacements that come with the car. There's also a couple of spots of rust in the shell but. for an X1/9 it has very little. The rare Momo wheels are 13x5. 5 and very light. have all centre caps and the tyres are near new. Interior: The interior has never been disassembled and is all there and tight. The dash has cracks but. has never been pulled apart or removed. all gauges work. The car originally came with a FM/Cassette deck which is missing. I have made a fascia and installed a motorcycle stereo with auxiliary input and speakers under the dash. There is also a clock out of a 1981 X1/9 (not connected as it's broken). There are the original speakers in the parcel shelf that are not connected. The seats need re-trimming but. I have not done that as I have not found a match to the ‘Seria Speciale' distinct velour with blue striping. It has $20 seat covers on it at the moment. Electrical: Everything works as it should except the rear demister. Stronger 55Amp built in regulator alternator fitted from a 1981 Fiat X1/9 Mechanical: Originally the ‘Seria Speciale' should be a 1300cc 4-Speed. the matching number engine and gearbox comes with the car. As do the A-arms rear axles and wheel hubs. In about 2009 the engine lost compression. I installed the complete rear end out of a 1981 1500 5-Speed Fiat X1/9. the car is much better with this combination and runs perfectly. This included A-Arms. hubs. stronger axles and CV's. I drive it to and from work Parramatta to Sydney on the M4 in peak hour traffic without any problems it also cruises at 110km/h with plenty left in her. While doing the transplant I retained the original water and heater pipe set-up so only the purist can tell it was ever swapped and swapping back to original running gear is easy if you were inclined. It's zippy. economical. collectable. different and appreciating in value. Car is currently insured for $8K. will be worth much more with time and a paint job. This is the very last of the true Italian Fiat X1/9's. pre-Bertone build. The last photo shows how the car should look with the full "Seria Speciale" sticker kit. I have a set and it will come with the car. I will also include some colour matched paint if you wanted to fix the areaa on the nose where the paint has bubble instead of getting a full respray.
