1938 Alvis 4.3 Litre Drophead Coupé. New paint/Leather. for sale

A large powerful car The apogee of pre war Alvis cars with just 204 examples having been built before WW 2 interrupted play. This car wears handsome four seat drop head coachwork by Abbey Coach builders of Acton. The 4. 3 litre capacity & 7 bearing crank allied to triple carbs makes for a very sporting piece of machinery.
The car is in splendid condition having had much recent work done to it including new paint of shell grey over midnight blue & a new leather interior in burgundy/black. The car comes with a vast assortment of bills covering the recent work totaling many many thousands of pounds. £14 k on paint & £8 k on leather alone. To the front are massive P 100 headlamps & a pair of spots giving a very imposing frontal appearance indeed.
The car starts readily & pulls strongly up to modern speeds where it will cruise comfortably all day. The gear box is a paragon of virtue & must be one of the best made pre war anywhere. It boasts superb synchro-mesh on all four forward gears & is a pleasure to use way ahead indeed of many of its contemporaries. Period tests at the time record that the 4. 3 Alvis was the first saloon to be capable of breaking the Magic 100 MPH barrier.
The car is very Derby Bentley like in appearance. but of a slightly more sporting bent & easier to drive with is superb 'box. In stock now. it is ready for viewing. The car has a capacious boot for touring luggage & a full tool kit which folds out of the lid. A hood bag is also present to tidy away the hood & give the car a svelte appearance roof down.
