1935 ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY 17hp for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 878 votes

1935 Armstrong Siddeley 'Foursome' Coupe. with silky smooth the six cylinder 2300cc engine and 'pre select' gearbox. or as Armstrong called it. 'the self changing gearbox'.

This is a very rare model. the 17hp Coupe with the 'Sports Chassis'. According to information I have from the Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club (. which I can highly recommend) there are only six surviving examples!

Armstrong Siddeley built fantastic cars during the 1930's. on a par with Bentley and Aston Martin. Armstrong's background in aviation meant that the cars incorporated many innovative ideas. and the bodies had alloy bonnets etc.

I have all the history for this car from new. her first owner was Lady Grace Dance. a 1930's stage performer and actress. Her husband. Lord George Dance. owned the Old Vic Theatre in London. Lady Dance was a friend of the Royal Family. and there are pictures of this car in the Imperial War Museum archives. leaving Buckingham Palace. There is a portrait of Lady Dance in the National Gallery.

The body and trim colours were to Lady Dance's specification. She had a string of new Armstrongs. as detailed in various publications on the marque.

Included in the file of papers. are full ownership history. logbooks. Tax Discs from 1941 to 1976!. Original handbook. original Manuals. a complete album of photographs recording the chassis restoration etc. original sales brochure and of course a picture of Lady Dance herself. and loads more!

Firstly. this car is complete. and has undergone a very expensive chassis and mechanical restoration. basically it's now ready for body repair and paint etc.

The car was stripped to a bare chassis. The body was removed. and the chassis. axles. brakes. transmission and engine were all overhauled / restored to a very good standard. There is an extensive album of photographs to substantiate this.

The list of work / parts is almost endless. but for example:

NEW tyres and tubes (very expensive BF Goodrich 'Silvertown' Cord 5. 50 x 19)

NEW wiring loom installed

NEW stainless steel exhaust

NEW hubcaps. found though the club

NEW Badges for hubcaps. took two years to find

The ash / timber frame (under the steel and aluminium body) has been repaired.

The original leather interior is all there. and just needs recolouring (kit included) and then treating with hide food.

Some fresh chrome plating has been done (steering column etc)

All the super rare bits are there. including the spare wheel cover. the interior rear roller blind for privacy and the lovely art deco interior lamp.

Dash and instruments are all there.

The sliding sunroof (known as a sliding head in the 30's) has been recovered both externally and internally with the correct leathercloth and woollen headlining.

There is a roll of burgundy leathercloth. and lengths of burgundy and grey woollen headlining / trim included.

There are tins of the correct (mixed to pattern) burgundy and grey paint ready for the body.

The original Lucas 'D' lights are still on the rear bumper. and the original Lucas 'Bi-Flex' Long Range headlamps are both in good shape.

The tools. oil can and 'Petrolyle' oil top up can etc are all still with the car.

The current V5C Registration Document is in my name. as I have owned this car for three years.

The original registration number is with the car. and is transferable.

In summary. a super rare model. a genuine piece of art deco car design. you'll probably never find another one in this time warp condition.

Any questions. please just ask. To view. just email and I can arrange a time.

For sale with a sensible reserve.

The site could have been useful for potential Buyers and Sellers if it was run properly and monitored. However, I see it's been called a 'joke' ,and sadly I have to agree.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2016 WHEN IT WAS AUCTIONED BY THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT IT FROM THIS ADVERT IN 2013. THE CAR IS NOT FOR SALE

from Matthew, dated 30 april 2020
Hi sorry to bother you but I wondered if you could give me some advice. I have a pair of head lamps for this model which a neighbour has asked me to sell following the passing of her husband. Would you have any idea what the could be worth please, really nice chrome work and all intact. I have asked the owners club advice but had no luck there.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Matthew

TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Why are you still advertising this car if it was sold years ago

Your reputation is shot as I know many people who are fed up
with your company for doing this

from Gordon Stevens, dated 11 july 2019
Why is this advert still up here? It's just a waste of space and very annoying. It serves no purpose Remove it and save the planet a bit of electricity Is it just a bit of padding for
Cars from Uk Because they've nothing better to offer?

from charles cawley, dated 08 may 2019
I had the same model back in the 1980s. Now retired- would like to have a go at bringing another one back to life.

If still available, I would like to make an offer.

from Adam moore, dated 21 may 2018
Is this an old advert or is this car still for sale?
I have been looking for an Armstrong for a while, to bring back home to Coventry. Cash waiting.
Regards, Adam.
