VW Golf GTI Mk2 5 door One family from new 61,000 miles with all paperwork

For auction here is my Golf GTI Mk2 8 valve. I am only selling it as it does not get used enough. having done 600 miles between the last two MOT's. I am an honest e-bayer and will give a thorough description. Please remember that this car is now 25 years old. so although it is pretty impressive it is not brand new.

This is a private sale and there is no VAT to add. i am just using my e-bay business account to list a non business item.

It has been in my family since new. with me being the second registered keeper since November 2007. Prior to that it was in my late father's name. but was used by my late mother. who was 63 when they bought it. In other words it has not been thrashed. The towbar was a reserve plan in case my father's car broke down just prior to any caravan holdays. The car has never been used to tow anything.

It has 61. 42 miles on the clock. This may minimally rise as I will keep it running. I have all the old MOT's apart from 1993 and 2003. The mileage on the September 200 MOT certificate is 49. 75. I have all the paperwork to show beyond dispute that it is a one family car and the mileage is genuine.

It is a five door. with factory fitted sliding sunroof. and the seal is still 100% watertight. It has power steering which was a factory fitted option. It came on steel wheels but about 2 years ago I bought some Pirelli P slots. had them professionally refurbished/powder coated. and the centre plastic covers sprayed to match. The steel wheels are available at a negotiable price if desired. The only non standard items (other than exhaust. see below) are a replacement radio/CD player and the radio aerial which is electrically operated.

In my ownership I have had a stainless steel exhaust fitted. which carried a life time guarantee. This has been made as close a copy as possible of original spec. and the sound is just the same. The manifold is still the original item.

The first two photos are from August 2012. when the light was better than when the other photos were taken (9/2/2014). The last two photos show some very minor rust issues. The front n/s wheel arch has very early blistering but the metal is still sound. The other photo shows some early rust under the paint on the tailgate. This was a replacement tailgate I had fitted as the original had rust around the lock area. This rust on the current tailgate I am sure is not deep into the metal but just surface rusting under the paint.

The interior is pretty impressive. I think it is true to say the rear seats have never been used. The right hand bolster on the drivers seat has some wear/softening of the padding. but the fabric is perfect. This is only really felt when examining it with a hand. and is not apparent when sitting in the seat.

The plastic collar at the top of the oil dipstick recently snapped in the cold weather but this in no way compromises the function and oil does not come up the dipstick tube that high. I just want to list any faults I am aware of.

Viewing is welcomed. but please dont waste my time by making any silly offers. I know roughly what this is worth on a good day. and I dont need the money. I am happy to demonstrate it on the road to any seriously interested people. but I will be driving it. I will be quite happy to demonstrate anything on request. or example that it doesn't jump out of gear on the overun etc.

Please do not ask for a buy it now (I wont respond to any such requests) the auction will run to the end. It is known locally to be up for sale so I reserve the right to end auction early.
