1984 Ferrari 512BBi Berlinetta Boxer

This auction is for a very original. un-restored and meticulously maintained 1984 Ferrari 512BBi. serial No. ZFFJA09S000052271. It's among the very last Berlinetta Boxers produced by Ferrari. and one of very few “Zegna” editions produced in 1984 (consisting of virgin wool inserts in seats and inner door panels). The car is completely stock except for an MSD 6AL ignition box which had already replaced the original Dinoplex unit at the time of my purchase. It comes with factory books. tools. and maintenance records. I've also obtained copies of the factory workshop manual and CD-ROM which are included in this sale.   This car has never been repainted or otherwise “restored. and the factory paint and leather show very well with patina that can be expected from an unrestored car of this age.  

This car was federalized by Dick Fritz of AmeriSpec who sold it to the previous owner (from upstate NY) in 1995. I purchased the car in July 2003. and have owned it ever since. During this time. the car has received (2) complete engine out services by well known and respected Ferrari specialists. The first such service was performed immediately after my purchase (with 69. 78 Km showing on the odometer). and included the following; 

Replacement of timing belts. tensioner bearings. camshaft seals and all gaskets. valve clearance adjustment. installation of new Borg & Beck clutch discs. Pressure Plate. Throw-out bearing and pilot shaft bushing. New crankshaft seals. clutch slave cylinder and stainless steel braided Slave Cylinder hose. installation of new motor mounts. NGK spark plugs. thermostat. water pump. new alternator & A/C compressor belts. new fuel and coolant hoses. Flush & refill of the cooling. brake. and clutch systems. drained transaxle & refilled with Redline synthetic gear oil. new motor oil & filters using Mobil-1 15W50 synthetic oil. Evacuation and recharge of A/C system with new oil and R-12 refrigerant.

The second engine out service was completed in February 2012. This service. which was performed at odometer reading of 76298 Kilometers. included the following; 

Replacement of timing belts and tensioner bearings. new cam drive seals. bearings and star nuts. valve adjustment using brand new shims. new cam cover gaskets and seals. rebuild water pump internals using new seal & bearing collar along with a new thermostat. replaced ignition distributor bushings & bearings. cleaned the distributor reluctor wheel and installed new distributor cap and rotor along with new NGK Iridium sparkplugs. Serviced the drive axles. replaced muffler isolators mounts. replaced all electrical relays with brand new Bosch units. installed new air K&N air filters & Bosch fuel filters. rebuilt Starter motor. installed new coolant. fuel. vacuum. and fuel vent hoses (original Cavis). new factory radiator cap. flushed the coolant. brake & clutch systems. new A/C compressor and alternator belts. installed new front brake pads. repaired brake safety switch. Changed oil & Filters (using Mobile-1 15W50 synthetic motor oil and Redline synthetic in transaxle). Evacuation and recharge of A/C system with new oil and R-12 refrigerant and leak-down check of all 12-cylinders.  

This is a very strong. turnkey Boxer that can be driven anywhere. The sale also includes a specially made tool for removal of center knockoff wheels. along with its torque wrench. Also included are (4) brand new original Michelin (not Coker reproduction) TRX tires (Existing tires are still in good shape despite their age). I have receipts. photos. and videos of all service work along with some of the old parts for interested parties. I should note that the A/C system while still working. doesn't cool very well. Everything else works perfectly. including the factory stock Pioneer radio / equalizer system. The car is located in the TampaBay area with a clear FL title in my name. As of this writing. 77. 21 Kilometers is showing on the odometer. Please note that the speedometer still retains its original metric internals. As such. the odometer and trip-meter record in kilometers. despite the MPH face dial which was added during federalization to meet DOT approval. I should also add that this car retains its factory original exhaust system. which does NOT include catalytic converters. As such. it can not be registered in California in current form (Please check your local requirements before bidding).
