Seller's notes: "This is a very nice Nevada Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance! The truck dose have the typical M43 ambulance design flaw of rust along the roofs drip line and top seal". The only other spot is smaller than a dime, and just under the windshield on the cowling. My many photos prove this vehicle is pretty much rust free other than some light surface rust."

1953 Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance. M43

After many years of family fun it's now time to sell our 1953 Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance. We have had many years filled with wonderful memories in our 53 Dodge. I have never taken this nice old girl out for a four wheel drive beating. however I have used the four wheel drive to avoid getting stuck! She has never let me down!  I bought this nice old truck years ago from a private collector out of Reno Nevada. Other than the typical M43 ambulance design flaw. "rust along the roofs drip line and top seal". this vehicle is pretty much rust free! The only other spot is smaller than a dime. and it's just under the windshield on the cowling. There is some surface rust here and there. but only superficial amounts you would expect from a very nice Nevada vehicle. I looked for a long time before I found this old Dodge. in order to find one that wasn't a rust bucket! I will try to cover everything I can in the description. but please feel free to ask any additional questions you want. I will be honest. and straight forward. Like most old military rigs. this one is sold "as is". I will also do my best to assist you in getting this gem shipped off. or loaded on whatever you want to pick it up with. But shipping is the buyer's responsibility! With all that said. this is what I can tell you about my truck:

·       This truck has just over 81. 00 original miles on it.

·       This Dodge has a free and clear title. with matching numbers.

·       It has been registered in Washington State with a restored 1953 license plate.

·       Other than the typical rust problems described above. this truck is in excellent overall shape for a 1953 military vehicle. Do yourself a favor and start with a nice one like this. You might pay a little more now. but you will save all that money later in headaches and aspirin!

·       This Dodge is all original. I'm not sure about the paint. but I was told the numbers that are stenciled on it are original? All the running gear is stock. and working just fine. The four wheel drive could climb a wall! It has a Braden PTO winch. from what I've heard that's very rare for a M43. The 24V electrical system works. all lights. dash components. etc.    By looking at the photos you can see this truck does not have all the original medical gear in the back area. What you will find is plenty of useful storage space under the two nicely padded bench seats. Sleeps two very nicely! The front seats are black. and were recovered when I picked this thing up from Nevada. The sliding door is all there and works. It's complete with a window. pass-through slot. and a adjustable vent port. There are also two vent fans that run the vent ducting along the upper sides of the back area. The whole box area stays very cool in hot weather. so it must be well insulated. We do have the upper bunk frames that came with it. I don't think they're original though. They will go with the truck when it's sold.

·       This ambulance has the rear fold down step that often gets ripped off. along with a military style trailer hitch.

·       I have a lot of  money is some very nice. hard to find parts. and everything goes with the ambulance when it's sold! I will list these parts below.

·       The brakes work well. so do the clutch. shifters and gas pedal.

·       All the different tactical light settings work. and I have a very complete 24V military NOS turn signal kit that goes with this deal.

·       The person that owned it before me. thought it would be nice to have an electric fuel pump. and windshield wipers. The electric fuel pump works well. but the wipers are bolt on trash! It is for that reason I have bought a very hard to find set of NOS. U. S. A. made vacuum wipers. complete with new wiper arms and blades. The other owner removed all the stock vacuum systems metal tubing to convert it to electric. so I have a complete new installation kit with all the removed stuff in it.

·                You will be able to enjoy the truck now. but return it to stock later. I also have a NEW complete fuel system. complete with a double stage fuel pump that offers a vacuum assist to boost wipers operation. No more slow wipers up hill! A brand new complete set of fuel lines that run from the tank to the flat head six engine. This will replace the spot where the electric fuel pump was installed. if you ever want to go back to stock. I also got a new carburetor rebuild kit. not just a gasket set. but the real thing. I also got a new throttle return spring. The truck runs very well as it is. and there are no carburetor issues at this time. I just wanted to be able to completely go through the fuel system later. when I went back to totally stock.

·       About the motor. all stock. starts right up every time. It has the setup on the carburetor that allows you to run in deep water! I have a tune up kit that goes with it. complete with a new set of plug wires. six plugs. coil. points rotor. condenser. etc.

·       I just put two new batteries in it at the end of last summer.

·       All tires are the stock kind that would have been issued on the truck by the military. They are not the old cracked ones. but rather newer replacements that have most of their thread life. The spare in on the driver's door side. stock. and the swing arm and locking handle work just fine.

This 1953 Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance  is ready to go down the road the way it is. but it comes with the following  list of new parts below that will make it a very complete. and a comfortable rig to drive in all seasons. Just check out these rare. and expensive parts you'll get :
