1973 Jeep CJ-6 / 4 x 4

The Jeep CJ-6 was introduced for 1956. and was in production for just under 20 years. It was essentially identical to the classic CJ-5. just stretched by a massive 20 inches. This longer 101” wheelbase added substantial cargo space to the vehicle and was our answer to the endless requests for a roomier vehicle.

In 1965. the CJ-6 benefited from the same “Dauntless” V 6 engine as the CJ-5. which meant a tremendous 155 horsepower (practically double that of the base engine) was now on tap for those who opted for it. This quest for power took another step forward in 1973. when parent company AMC shoved a 304-cubic-inch V 8 (or the optional 360-cubic-inch) under the hoods of all CJ models. AMC also improved the rest of the vehicle by equipped heavier axles. bigger brakes and a wider track.

The CJ-6 was loved by the people in need of the extra space and comfortable ride suspension.

Only 50. 72 units over the course of its two-decade life.

This model is entering the collector's model and due the low production numbers will be a sought after truck.

This particular model rolled off the assembly line as a fully loaded Jeep with all the options available at the time. Power steering. power brakes. the 360 V-8 motor were the only factory upgrades you could have gotten and this one has them all.

I have owned this Jeep for years now and have babied it until today. It has all the extra options and goodies anyone could want like air lockers for the snow or mud.

This Jeep rides and handles like a dream! It has a very smooth (non-bouncy suspension) that makes it very stable and a joy to drive unlike the CJ 5's and 7's.

It has the tough T-18 transmission with granny gear that will not break!

It has a top of the line clean sound system you can find out there with a 6 speaker and tweeter and dual amps and bass box in rear setup (it's really sweet).

It comes with a lightweight vintage camping trailer so that you can haul all your gear when you want to go up in high country.
