Seller's notes: "Car is in fantastic condition. The only known flaws are: The speedometer started making noise a year or so ago at 47,000 miles, so I disconnected it. Clock does not function, & wiper control cable needs to be freed-up or replaced (have to manually turn on wiper motor). Washer bottle is disconnected - don't know if it works. I am confident that I will never get full price for this car on eBay. so I'm not asking full price.  Spare me the trouble of hauling it all the way to Scottsdale or Kissimmee. and save BIG!  Auction comps for a Sedan of this restoration quality are up to $48. 00.  I have $45. 00 into the car. and am insured for the same.
I bought this '56 off of a ravine in Eastern Colorado in 2007 (see photos) where it had been parked since 1986. Yep. that's her in the photos. Yikes!  The odometer read around 36. 00 miles. and given that the interior door panels were in good shape. the headliner and dash cover were perfect. and the brake pedal showed virtually no wear. it just might have been accurate. hard to say.
Mike Lundgren at Auto Reflections in Wheat Ridge. CO did a SPECTACULAR body restoration. I really just wanted to throw some paint on it and have fun with it for a few years. but Mike said. "I do it one way. I do it right. or I don't do it at all. "  It had some rocker and trunk rot in the spare tire well. and I trust him. so off to Auto Reflections it went.  $26. 00 and two years later. I had my car back. and the result is what you see.  He rolled out all the dents by hand.  I'm not sure why. because I could have found him new doors and fenders. but he wanted to keep the integrity of the car.  There is no rust in this vehicle.  I have complete photos of the body restoration in process for serious buyers.
In addition to the body restoration. nearly every part of this car has been touched.  The engine was rebuilt last year (I don't know if it's matching numbers - I've never looked or cared). & the brakes were completely overhauled in 2010 to include the booster. It's had a compete engine electrical overhaul. including a rebuilt distributor. The upgraded alternator. which looks like a vintage generator. is rated at 90 amps. and the headlamps are Xenon.   I added 2" blocks in rear. and had the drive shaft shortened (and rebuilt) to fit properly. It has gas shocks in front. and adjustable air in rear. The tranny was rebuilt in '07 before it went to paint. I upgraded recently to a beefier '57 intake and Rochester carb for added horsepower.  The secondaries for '57 are bigger than for '56.   New aluminized exhaust with glass packs and stainless steel snorkels were added in 2010. The wheels are Kelsey-Hayes Sabres. and are in very nice condition. The radiator has been re-cored and I added an auxiliary electric fan and Carter electric fuel pump with return to eliminate vapor lock.   The car only needed 1 tie rod end replaced (remember the low miles?). as well as sway bar bushings.  It drives very straight and solid. bias-ply Cokers notwithstanding.
95% of the exterior chrome was re-plated. including the Flying Lady. and all the brightwork was removed and polished while at paint.   The interior is fresh with new leather. correct seat fabric. and heavy pile black carpet. 90% of chrome has been re-plated. and the bumper exhaust ports were free of rot to begin with. believe it or not.  The steering wheel was restored and "pearlized" by Pearlcraft in Australia.  All the emblems and script are new except for the grill script. It has a wicked Kenwood system with 10" sub in trunk. MP3 ready. totally hidden except for the nondescript grill covers on the front kicks.
The only flaws that I am aware of are:  The speedometer started making noise a year or so ago at 47. 00 miles. so I disconnected it.  Clock does not function. & wiper control cable needs to be freed-up or replaced (have to manually turn on wiper motor). Washer bottle is disconnected - don't know if it works.  The engine and tranny were rebuilt with rope seals. so they leak when they've been sitting - they all do.
The car is currently timed at 10 degrees from TDC and jetted with 47's for altitude. so you would probably want to go to 49's and 5 or 6 degrees from TDC for driving closer to sea level.  I would be happy to make those changes for the buyer if desired.
The purchase price does include the DUAL INTAKE MANIFOLD and AIR CLEANER pictured.  They do work with this motor. and I've had them in before. but I could never find a set of Carter duals that I was happy with.  I'm sure you'll fine something to do with them.
Well. that's all I've got.  I would consider trading for a very good '66 or earlier Lincoln Continental convertible. or a '56-'57 MK II.  The value right now is about equal.
