1952 MUNTZ JET
Exotic Classics is proud to present this brilliant 1952 Muntz Jet featured in Dark Blue with Black interior and white removable Carson top. The Muntz Jet is a 4-passenger high-performance luxury coupe that pioneered a market segment made popular in the late 50's when Ford introduced the 4-passenger Thunderbird. The original design came from famed American race-car designer Frank Kurtis and subsequently Earl Muntz bought the design and redesigned and re-engineered it. Earl ‘The Mad Man' Muntz was a well-known entrepreneur. With a background in radio during the early 40's. he later made his fortune selling the first televisions for mass market as a Dumont Television franchiser. The Muntz automobiles were built in Evanston. Illinois on a 113” wheelbase chassis and this car. like most Muntz Jets. is powered by a Cadillac 331 CI V-8 engine with two four-barrel carburetors and features a GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Top speed was rated at 112 MPH. About 400 cars are estimated to have been built in total. and less than 50 are thought to survive today. Our Muntz Jet has been the subject of a nut and bolt restoration to the highest concours standards. It may be the best example in the world and is certainly a historically significant automobile.
