Modern technology sure is nice. Among other things, it allows us to sell cars at a distance, easily posting pictures and video for all to see. But in the case of this 1947 Buick Super convertible it just doesn't cut it. Because while this car might look good on a phone screen or computer monitor, it is just no substitute for the real thing.

This car truly is beautiful. It's hard to look away from its glorious curves, low windshield, and modern metallic paint. The power convertible top is clean and tight and aligns precisely with the windshield frame, befitting of such a nice car. The grand Buick grille and other trim pieces help distinguish this upscale brand from more common transportation. Tires are wide whitewall Coker radials that add to the imagery while making driving more enjoyable. And yes, those are actual underside pictures of this 75-year-old automobile.

The unique dual-hinge hood opens from either side to expose the rebuilt 248 ci Fireball inline-8. If you've never driven one of these straight eight engines then you are in for a treat; they are incredibly smooth and quiet. And as an overhead valve engine they continued to keep Buick ahead of the competition's flatheads. The 3-speed manual transmission works great as well with minimal clutch effort. The long 124” wheelbase helps contribute to a driving experience that is more refined than you might expect from the 1940's. This car also has many new or rebuilt parts throughout.

The two-tone leather and cloth interior continues the upscale Buick theme. Here too everything is in remarkable condition, defying the car's true age. Note the front seat has been fitted with seat belts. The dash and steering wheel have a subdued art-deco look with an integrated control panel in the middle. The headlights, horn, heater, and wipers all function properly. Same with the speedometer and all gauges. The original tube radio still works as do the Hydro-Lectric power windows and power seat! Even the convertible top dome light works.

This really is a must-see car. It is in remarkable condition throughout and remains a very capable automobile from a bygone era. Let this Buick take you back to that wonderful time when grand automotive styling and quality American goods were a way of life.
