1968 Pontiac Le Mans for sale
Current customer rating:
Extremely clean, rust free Cal car.
Highly modified, but still retains a lot of originality.
So much stuff to list, I will probably forget quite a bit, but here goes:
Late 60's Oldsmobile 455 engine.
Offy intake.
Holley 650 DP carb.
-6 an fuel lines and new mechanical pump.
T 400 trans w/shift kit. Shifts instantly and hooks up solid.
Open rear dif.
Short exhaust with flowmasters.
Aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.
Pertronix electronic ignition.
One wire alternator conversion.
Engine brackets are not chromed.
I polished and clear coated them.
Dash bezel is new, as is the in dash tach.
I made the walnut veneer dash insert.
Originally had a wood grain sticker.
That is real walnut.
Most of the interior is original, and in amazing condition.
Entire interior was out, floors rust sealed, painted and covered with new sound deadener insulation. Under dash insulation is also new.
Original carpet is clean and was shampooed and reused.
New glove box.
Kick panels were replaced.
ALWAYS garaged and covered.
Lots of wiring modifications done, including all LED lighting, with relay harness.
Headlights will light up a baseball field.
Turn signal switch is new.
Ignition switch is new.
Steering column was rebuilt with new lower bearing.
3 turn power steering box.
Front disc brake conversion from Inline Tube.
Every single brake part is new including spindles, knuckles, calipers, rotors, master cylinder, vac booster and every brake line on the car all the way back to the rear shoes and cylinders.
All of it.
Also has a vac reservoir.
Stops on a dime and in a straight line.
Suspension is fresh, and has a 1 5/16" front sway bar.
Also has boxed rear control arms with sway bar.
There is no body roll with this car.
Freshly painted 15" Rally II wheels.
Brand new Mickey Thompson 235-60 15" front tires and 275-60 15" rears.
Front end is lowered about 2"
Rear bumper is a brand new repro from Tamraz. The fit is perfect. Even the weight is exactly the same as the orig. 40 lbs.
Front is original.
Gas tank was cleaned, painted, and has a new sender unit and mounting straps/bolts.
New windshield.
Was painted corvette white and new top about 6 or 7 years ago. Still looks good, but has some chips and flaws.
Rocker trim and 455 badges are new.
Rear Le Mans emblems were deleted by PO who attempted to make a GTO clone.
I have a GTO hood for it and brand new hinges.
Over the last 1.5 years I painted under the hood, did a ton of detailing, rewiring, and whatever else I felt like dealing with.
New heater core and blower motor.
Unfortunately, after installation, the blower fan is rubbing and sounds horrible. It will have to be redone if you want a heater. I have never had a use for a heater since buying the car, so....I am not doing that job twice.
Anyway, this thing runs like a beast, and has short exhaust.
You hear it, feel it, and smell it.
No a/c....sorry.
I am sure there is more...just come look....
The car is not perfect in every way, but far from a fixer upper.
None of these cars are perfect, despite what people claim.
reasonable offers will be considered.
Cash in person only.
We meet at bank.
I deposit cash, and you get a clean title.
I suggest you bring a mechanic with you, if you are not one.
If you see a cleaner one at this price, by all means....buy it. :)
A little about me:
I was a professional mechanic for over 30 years.
I have had four 68 Lemans since the late 80's.
I know these cars pretty well.
This one is the cleanest of all of them.
I got extremely intimate with this car, with the intention of never selling it.
It's worth a lot more to me than the asking, but I have medical issues, and my hot rodding days are
probably behind me.
I have hundreds of pictures of every process I did with this car.
Everything is documented, and 100% of work was done by me.
Also have a lot of receipts dating back to PO.
Send email for more info and pictures.
Thanks for looking.
DO NOT pay through ebay.
This is a cash on pickup deal.
A wire transfer is a possibility if you are out of state.
No exceptions.
Ebay gets a listing fee.
If you pay through Ebay, I will refund it.
If you need the car transported, I can recommend a good transport company I have used before.
The car is sold absolutely as-is with no warranty whatsoever.
Having said that, you won't be disappointed.
Every single time I take this car anywhere, I get people rolling up to me complimenting the car.
Thanks for understanding.
