1972 International Harvester Scout for sale
Current customer rating: (96 votes ) based on1972 International Harvester Scout II. I bought this Scout in September and a relocation is forcing me to sell. The Scout is in good condition, runs, drives, stops. It has the 304 V8, 727 3 speed trans, Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear, the LST, which I have included in the pics, indicates a traction device in the rear. Since I've had it I've replaced all spring shackles, shocks, and rear U-bolt plates. Odometer shows approximately 72,000 miles, but it's probably not actual mileage.
The body and frame are in good shape with very minor surface rust on the frame and underside of the body. No major dents or rust. Paint is relatively new. The floors have a few small patches welded in. I bought the truck in Texas, where it was originally sold and probably spent the majority of its life.
Engine starts right up and sounds good. New plug wires and distributor were recently installed by a previous owner. Previous owner also installed a new 2 bbl carburetor, new factory style plastic gas tank, new fuel pump, and some fuel lines. The front seat has been reupholstered at some point in black vinyl. I have the rear seat but it is not mounted, it will be included in the sale. New door seals have recently been installed, as well as a new windshield and windshield seal. Steering column has new lock cylinder and turn signal switch. Wipers and horn work. The lift was installed before I bought it so I don't know what brand or the amount of lift for sure, but I believe it's 4 inches. The wheels are 15x15, and the tires are 33x12.50 Cooper Evolution MT with a fair amount of tread remaining.
Brake system has new master and front slave cylinders, new brake booster, new front soft lines.
The Scout was last registered about ten years ago and has not been driven far or fast since. It will need a thorough going-over before it's ready for your cross-country adventure. This truck is almost 50 years old,and may need some adjusting/finishing/tinkering, the tires will rub if turned all the way to maximum lock, horn button is rigged with a button under the dash, dash is cracked, and cassette player/radio does not work. Passenger side seat belt retractor is inoperable, missing jack/handle/tire iron. It is not perfect, not a show truck, and it is not a new Toyota, but gets plenty of attention and would make a great toy!
You are bidding to OWN the scout, not the right of first refusal! If you are the high bidder at the end of the auction, you bought it! Therefore the $300 deposit through Paypal is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable. You are welcome to ask questions or set up a time to come see it before the auction ends and I will do my best to accommodate you. Make sure you have the funds and the blessing from any significant other before bidding! Be sure to note that the buyer is responsible for shipping. Clean North Carolina Title in hand.
