1976 CHEVROLET GMC CORVETTE STINGRAY 5.7 litre V8 L-48

1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 350 cu in (5. 7 ltr) V 8 Coupe T roof Auto
For sale with regret my pride and joy a real head turner.
Park up and instantly you have an audience.
This car is standard not altered of messed around with.
Used almost daily. and sounds awesome like only a v 8 can
The car was imported from Florida about 2 1/2 years ago and registered in the UK
Like most USA cars of this age it was ok but lacked a bit of power and had a few bits requiring work
So have detailed the work done below
For those who know Bob in the Crawley area with his Drag race Charger he has looked after may an american car for years so the work was intrusted to him and the proffessionals at AMK. to ensure all mechanically was sound and good.
Work Carried out
The Floor Pans In this model were the first to be steel. these had been repaired and welded
But not to our std so new floor pans from the the states installed over £2. 00!!!
The Brakes were overhauled and a new mastercylinder fitted as the other was leaking into the servo and loosing fluid
The rear end when hot would Knock but only on pulling away slowly so ALL prop joints on side shafts and prop changed
Wheel bearings were replaced or regreased and readjusted as required. This make matters worse.

The Diff was then removed and replaced and now the car rolls as sweet as and fuel consumtion is staggering for such a car
The Radiator would loose a little water so a replacement secondhand item was soursed and Guildford Radiators did an amazing rebuild stunning job
The car sits at the same temp constantly no over heating in traffic even when temperatures are hot out side.
The Heating system was also flushed through and works a treat. as does the air con handy on hot days.
All fluids have been changed and the gear box filter also. the engine does use a little oil but very minamal.
The 4 barrel rochester was only working on 2 barrells now all 4 and the result is terriffic the kick down comes in when it should and all runs well
The result of all this work means when you touch the throttle it launches without delay and alll are left behind.
The beauty of the L- 48 motor over the L-88 higher brake model is the power is in the torque not the BHP so it just launches.
The vacuum controls were lazy especially the head lights. and a cracked t piece was found now all works really well.
The Interior is original Fire Fern and has the usual sun based damage and signs of discolaration expected on a 38 year old car
The paint also could do with refreshing.
THe most important part to me was she is mechanically sound and reliable and safe.
no good looking good if it doesnt go stop or handle.
