1976 Citroen 2 CV 6 Charleston
It is with great regret that I am offering up our recently acquired 2 CV 6 for sale. My wife and I recently relocated from Kansas City. to Santa Barbara. California.
Upon arriving here in July. I began my search for a burgundy/black 2 CV 6 Charleston. I spent several months looking for the perfect Santa Barbara convertible. This was my third 2 CV we currently own a 1971 2 CV Truckette. AK-250. In the great state of California. any car older than 1975 needs not to be “smogged”. Also. two cylinder cars like the 2 CV need not pass smog testing. Unfortunately. the “Smog People” have no statistics or guidelines to smog test a 1976 2 CV. and therefore the car cannot be granted an “exception”. Which means the car cannot be titled. or licensed in California. Translated I need to sell my Charleston. Mileage listed is in kilometres.
I purchased the car from Upstate New York and had it trailered to Santa Barbara. The car has new correct. gray interior. B+/A- exterior and starts. runs drives. perfectly. The top looks new and everything works. As I mentioned. I have owned many Citroens (two 11 CV's. an SM. a DS and three 2 CV's. not counting the Truckette). so I am very particular about which cars I buy. This car had no disappointments when it arrived. nor as we have driven it. Tires are in very good condition.
The car comes with a new. complete set of interior covers (see photo) and a scant number of spare parts. These cars (as you know. because you are considering owning a 2 CV) are very reliable. inexpensive to maintain. parts are readily available within the Continental US and the car easily attains 40 mpg. all day long.
Please buy this great car. so I can start searching for a pre-1975 2 CV that will pass California smog standards.
I bought the car right. so it will sell at market value. or BELOW.
