1950 SUNBEAM TALBOT 80 DROP HEAD COUPE - MEGA RARE GENUINE BARN FIND

What an ultra-rare beast this old girl is - a 1950 Sunbeam Talbot drop head. Yes. a drop head! Stylish 1950 s-style motoring with the hood down. Wow! A genuine barn find. she has responded superbly to being rescued and has been willing enough to display a free-turning engine plus spark. She will. without question. be running with very little effort. These early Talbot 80 s were only made for two years before being succeeded by the 90 and they are rare enough in saloon form. never mind in convertible mode. These Rootes Group cars were built to the highest quality with thick steel panels on top of a tank-like chassis. She is certainly sound and simply deserves a loving home. The body is surprisingly good and this is the result of being in dry storage. Her interior is not too bad at all although there is a tear in the base of the driver's seat. The front bumper is also with the car by the way.

If indeed you can find a drop head Talbot. you will see that they command immensely strong money. Such style combined with rarity will always come at a price! She is remarkably sound in my opinion with the worst cosmetic area being the boot (this is all surface rust). Also there is an excellent and complete spare radiator grille with the car ( brilliant chrome) as well as a full set of hubcaps which look as though they have been re-chromed.

All. in all. an excellent project and a car you could have ready for the summer. By the way. note the front wings with the low-slung headlights. These wings were on the 80 s only. By the time the Talbot 90 was launched in 1950. the lights had been raised by three inches to meet with US regulations.

As ever. my greatest kick is in the finding of such vehicles. And. those of you who perhaps follow my adverts will also be aware that I never ask anything more than reasonable money for my classic finds. She is. I repeat. in need of some restoration. I believe she has been stored for quite a number of years.

This is a mega-rare example. fresh from long term storage and. as such. in need of some degree of sympathetic restoration. She is all there however and the photos pretty much show her in her true light. I hope she finds the loving home she deserves. I can help with delivery if required. Thanks for reading.
