This 1988 BMW (E 30) M 3 Evo II is a rare example of the coveted performance saloon, which has benefitted from a comprehensive restoration and now presents in excellent condition. Under the bonnet sits the 2.3-litre version of the four-cylinder S 14 engine producing around 220 bhp, which drives the rear wheels via a five-speed dog-leg manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 173,618 miles from new.

One of only 500 examples made, this E 30 M 3 Evo II comes with thinner rear and side window glass, a lighter boot lid, a deeper front splitter and revised rear spoiler. This is an original UK-market example with just four previous keepers on the V 5 C. The car has been restored and also boasts a rebuilt engine using original BMW parts. A rolling road test sheet confirms the S 14 unit still produces the full 217 bhp.

The iconic bodywork presents very well, with flush shut lines, smooth panels and no suggestion of any prior damage. The condition of the Macao Blue Metallic paintwork has been described as excellent, and though a slight dent can be seen on the driver's door, the finish has enjoyed a full respray and presents with a glossy shine. The vehicle rides on a set of 16-inch wheels, which are in excellent condition all around the car.

Inside, the cabin features chequered fabric centre panels for the seats, with grey leather bolsters. The front seats have both been re-trimmed, but the other fabric and leather is all original. Some light creasing can be seen in the material, though there is no damage or heavy wear. The synthetic suede around the steering wheel shows some wear, though the dashboard trim is in good order, and an aftermarket Alpine stereo has been installed. All of the switchgear is reported to work as it should, with no electrical issues detected.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in February 2021 at 173,000 miles, where technicians at MV Workshop in Leytonstone carried out a full service. Prior to this, similar routine servicing was carried out in 2019 and 2020.

The most recent MOT test was on 20 January 2021 at 173,495 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels come wrapped with a set of Falken tyres, which are reported to be in as-new condition.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original BMW owner's manual and service book, as well as a selection of maintenance invoices and previous tax discs.
