Reluctantly selling my very early 1992 Corrado. I have recently purchased a MK 5 golf R 32 that has made the Corrado somewhat redundant. The car has had a full respray in 2016 and the body work is perfect with no rust. When I got it, the car suffered from a small electrical fire caused by the fan motor and had sat under a tree for a little bit.
I have had the car over a year now and it has had a lot of work done to get it where it is today. Around November 2020, the car benefitted from:
New Lower Radiator Support Panel (was the only bit of rust on the car so thought might as well replace it)
New Genuine 3 Speed Fan Motor
New Front Callipers New Fan Motor Plug / Wiring
New Windscreen
More recently, about 3 months ago I spent thousands to do the following work:
Both Timing Chains / Guides / Tensioners done New Clutch / Clutch Kit
New Rear Main Input and Output seals New Thermostat and flush
Power steering flush
New Air Filter
New Auxiliary Belt and Tensioner
New Valve Cover Gasket
New Boot Struts
Refurbished Brake Master Cylinder
The car was also entirely cleaned up throughout as it had an oil leak and coolant leak previously that was fixed during the work. I have hundreds of photos of the work as well as invoices and receipts to prove. The mileage will rise as I use it every now and then up and down between Wolverhampton and Southampton (350 mile round trip)
The car is a very early 1992 car and therefore the active aero spoiler rises at 42 mph and goes back down below 15 mph. It also has red badging as opposed to silver of the later cars. Everything works as it did from the factory as does the sunroof. The ABS light also goes out as it should after the car is started as well.
The bad points are minimal. However the sunroof cloth I've taken off as it was catching but the headliner is perfect. Front bumper could do with touching up as it has some stone chips and slight damage from when it was off the car. The driver side front light is also chipped and is a little cloudy due to this. The interior could do with a tidy up as it is showing it's 29 years of age but it still cleans up well! The coil overs on the car are old and show their age. Ride quality is okay but some squeaks can be heard. Finally the bonnet still has tree sap that you can see in harsh lighting where it sat under a tree. It needs a good polish but I wasn't bothered as I used it daily.
This is a good chance to get an appreciating classic at a good price considering the extensive history and work that has been recently done to future proof the car. I've used the car daily for a year without any real issues and a lot of the work was done because I was going to keep it. The car is a real honest car and I'd love for it to go to a good home. I have plenty of history and an album of over 300 photos of all the work I've done to the car the past year and a bit!
