FOR SALE: This 500 SL is presented with a sharp. two-tone paintwork.
This 500 SL is presented with a sharp. two-tone paintwork. The silver adorns almost every panel whilst the grey can be found on the lower part of the bodywork below the rubber trim. The paintwork itself is in good order. still showing a deep shine with very few stone chips to report. The hardtop is in good condition with no corrosion or damage and the soft top is free from tears or cracks to the plastic windows. All of the panels line-up correctly and the chrome trims to be found around the car are in good condition with no serious pitting issues. Both front and rear rubber bumpers are in fine fettle with no damage to be found and all of the light clusters remain free from cracks or moisture.
The contrasting blue leather interior is very presentable with no tears to the upholstery and only the lightest amount of wear to the drivers bolster. Both door cards remain free from scuffs or damage as does the wood trim laced throughout the interior. The dashboard houses a period Blaupunkt stereo and the foot-wells are still protected by the original Mercedes over-mats. This example is equipped with the rear seat option and an aftermarket wind diffuser for added comfort.
The 14" Mercedes alloys are in excellent condition having been treated to a full refurbishment and remain free from any unsightly kerb marks or scuffs. The wheels are shod in a matching set of Toyo tyres. with 6 mm of tread remaining all-round.
The 500 SL was first registered in September 1985 and has since had 6 keepers including the current owner. There is a large history file to be found with the car and almost every MOT certificate has been kept from new to verify the mileage throughout its life as well as many invoices for replacement parts and service work carried out. The Mercedes owner's manual and service booklet are also still present and the last service inspection was carried out by Mercedes specialists Staithes Garage Ltd. in March 2012 at 83 k miles.
