Austin A40 Farina Mk2 1966 4 owners from new 1098cc A Series engine for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 60 votes

Austin A40 Farina late Mk2, first registered 1966 Agate red, black roof. Four owners from new including myself, stacks of history including original invoice from purchase, even a small note from when the owner sold the car to advise the car had suffered no accident damage. Multiple previous MOT certificates. No current MOT.

1098cc gold seal engine with with Accuspark electronic ignition, servo assisted brakes, stealth HT leads and plugs. The car drives and stops, in fact my last journey was from the MOT station with a fresh MOT, I wanted to get this done to see how much was involved. Structurally the car is solid, as you will see the front wings has rotten out, however I have a handmade pair of replacements made by radford panels which cost £850! Ready to be welded into place, also included are NOS headlamp bezels (very rare), the boot lid also rotted out which is very common with the A40's, again however I have a solid replacement sourced several years ago, the solid boot lids are very hard to come by.  New re-cored radiator.

There are several areas of rust bubbling as expected for a car of this age.

Also included is a spare pair of half shafts, a pair of spare doors, spare glass, spare fuel tank, interior and more!

Where to start! I have owned this little Austin A40 since 2010 I purchased the car from the previous owner after being garaged stored, untouched for over 10 yrs, the previous owner acquired the vehicle in 1997. With a weekend of tinkering the Austin passed the MOT. The car was my daily driver until 2017 when I parked up in the garage to begin restoring due to rusted areas I wanted to address, over the time of ownership the headlining has been professionally re-lined, at the same time I had both front seats re upholstered. The carpets were replaced several years ago.

So far I have repaired the boot floor as seen in the photos, the O/S rear quarter has been totally rebuilt with original panels welded in (inner and outer wing panels), this area in now at the stage of final prepping and paint. My intention was to start on one corner and work my way around, however, with life, once I completed the quarter the project ground to a halt.

I have spent a lot of money on this car over the years, now due to downsizing the car has to go to a new home. Any questions please free free to ask. Lots more photos available on request, I could only upload 12!
