1525 Citroen Trefle Type for sale

1925 Citroen Trefle type C

Registration number: 5749 XH 22 (French Carte Gris. )
Named the Trefle. the French word for Shamrock due to the clover leaf seating arrangement of two to the front & one to the rear this car first came to us from long term French ownership. More colloquially the French call it "Cul de Poule" which translates to Hens Bottom.
This car is a wonderfully gallic alternative to an Austin seven or similar. The great benefit being that unlike an Austin 7. I at 6 ft 3" tall am able to comfortably get in & drive it.
Better to take it to the Tortoise Races rather then the Greyhound Races.
The engine is a little gem of 856 cc which starts easily & runs beautifully & willingly. One is never going to set speed records in such a car. but we did see 60 KMH come up easily on a minor down gradient. The gear box is a three speed affair. easy to use arranged in reverse similar to an early RR 20 hp. Reverse being where one might usually find third. First where fourth would be & second where first usually resides etc. The magneto has been converted to coil ignition for reliability.
The paintwork is burgundy over black & presents well. The interior seats are black with matching interior trim. The black hood is in excellent condition & erects easily. Disc type wheels are fitted to the four corners with a rear mounted spare. The late last owner considerably improved the car during his tenure. welding a crack to the manifold. fitting a cut off switch & new battery & generally going through & fettling the car to put it in the super condition we find it in today.
