Fiat 124 CS Spider Project

Very rare Fiat 124 CS Spider project car. This is the last year of the original chrome bumper cars. It was the same spec and year as the 124 Abarth. so would make for an easy conversion to a replica. Currently fitted with a 2 litre later engine. we have an original for rebuild if required. The body is in excellent condition. with no rust or evidence of extensive repairs. unlike most 124's and recent US imports. We have known this car for approximately 20 years. since it's original importation into the UK from California. The original colour was a salmon orange/ pink which was the only one we have ever seen with this from the factory. It has been changed to the present silver at some stage (we hadn't seen it for about 15 years) and the paint is in very good. but not perfect condition. The car runs and drives very well. but it is being sold by us "AS IS" with no Mo T. just so no one is in any doubt that we consider this to be a project.
It is fitted with twin 40 idf Webers and manifold. which is a valuable set up as fitted to the 1608 and the Abarth (44's). It also has a Nardi wood wheel which is rare and expensive (we have an original wheel which we would swap foc)
The main issue is presence of oil in the water. this had been addressed previously but is still apparent. We would remove the engine. strip and rebuild it anyway. but would ideally change it for a factory fitted 1800 engine. we have an original 'core' unit which we can supply at extra cost.
A fully rebuilt engine from us will approximate to around £5000 with VAT.
The interior is tidy in black vinyl. but a new set of carpets together with the refitting of the dashboard plastic wouldn't go amiss. (we will include the plastic with the car). The hood is not good and needs replacement (we have new mohair units in stock in a range of colours).
The most expensive and important problem with any classic car is the bodywork. To restore a 124 shell to correct spec will cost upwards of £15. 00 - this car needs no such work. Brakes and suspension are all in sound condition and would pass an Mo T. Gearbox and axle are working correctly.
The only reason we are selling a couple of our project cars is that we will not be able to start on them for at least 18 months due to current restoration workload. and parking is at a premium!
