1964 Triumph Spitfire 4 MK 1 - 2690 KP

The Triumph Spitfire 4, retrospectively known as the Triumph Spitfire 4 Mk 1 is a rare sight on the roads today even though they were built in greater numbers than, what later became, the Spitfire 4 Mk. II.

This is an extremely rare and unmolested car with just 2 previous owners and last owner for 38 years! It doesn't get much better than this if you're looking for something original and pretty unique. The mileage is believed genuine at just over 44k! A real gem and comes with the original and rare steel factory matching hard top it has overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears too.

I purchased the car a year ago after looking for one for quite a long time to sit alongside my TR6. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to bring it up to the standard I would like but it would make such a great rare classic run about. It has bags of character and turns heads wherever she goes. Sitting in this car is like stepping back in time. I have bought brand new front and rear bumpers which have not yet been fitted. If I was keeping her, I would get the paintwork corrected as it looks like the previous respray lacked finish. I will also put 12 months MOT on the car before sale.

History

The car was previously purchased in poor condition in 1982 and owned for 38 years. It was then given a total engine-out body-off rebuild when purchased, passed its MOT in September 1983 and was enjoyed for two years with daily use

In 1985 with the arrival of children and imminent house renovation it was no longer a practical car to drive and was garage stored. Since then, it has stayed in the garage apart from being re-MOT'd twice, in 1996 when it was used occasionally for 6 months, and 2015.  So, in the 38 years of ownership, it was used for 3 and 1/2 years on the road. In that time, it has been to classic car shows and displays, club meetings, used for getting to work, holidays, and fun trips out. It was even used as a wedding car on the Longleat estate!
