Meet Agatha…

Awesome looking patina ragtop slammed Bug.

Not sure where to start with this car. I bought it after a lifetime of motorcycles and always had a soft spot for them. I wanted something cool with sloping headlights and bought it with my heart not having much of a clue what I was looking at. Needless to say the seller saw me coming and to cut a long story short I ended up doing a body off, floor pans replacement. Heater channels, pans, Nap hat, inner wings… you name it were replaced. I have a photos to show every step of the way. Someone once spent a lot of money lowering the car, narrowing it, adding cool wheels etc. and completely ignored the fact it was rotting from the ground up.

The car is solid. It's had a 1641motor added with twin Webbers, it's as low as you want to go on a static. Lowered and narrowed right. Have receipts for this work. It sits awesome.

The bodywork is solid… bonnet looks after market. There's no big holes or bad rot. The rag top was added in the nineties from what I can see. It doesn't leak and still works fine. Super cool blasting around in summer with the windows down and ragtop open.

Paintwork… If you want a nice shiny bug, this car isn't for you. It's been every colour under the sun looking at what I discovered under layers of paint. The current colour is Java green and the paint job is rough/scruffy. The photos make it look better than what it is. That said I love the patina style. I've been slowly going round the panels and respraying them so some are better than others. The roof is the worst bit… cracked rough paint (see photo). But I love it the way it is… solid body, oily rag style… nice patina without being a rusty rat… a bit worn but cool. Patina in this case doesn't mean big rusty holes held together with filler. We had the body off so we know. I have documented the body off job pretty much every step of the way. It was done in 2017 and the car hasn't done many miles since.

I'm selling it as we need the space due to buying a car for my daughter and it hasn't moved in over a year. I just bought a new battery and it fired up straight away. It's had a lot of work since I bought it and comes with some paperwork and plenty of photos.

It's 12 volt. Discs up front. I have a ton of photos and recommend anyone wanting a bid to come and have a look at it. It has nothing to hide (unlike when I bought it).

It's a 54 year old car… well most of it is!. You need to keep on top of these old motors and know your way around spanner's so don't bid if you're expecting a modern car experience.

Don't bother sending me messages telling me stuff like the door handles are wrong for the year or whatever. It may be a bit of a Triggers broom but she wears it well. She looks the nuts and pulls like a train.

It has Fuchs wheels all in good condition, pop out windows and rear seatbelts have been retrospectively fitted.

I've tried to be as honest as I can but do message me if you want to know anything at all, if I can help I will.

Come and have a look at her. She will charm you.

Comes with some history/paperwork and a few spares and I have a file of photos with everything I've done with the car.

Last MOT was in 2018, you can check that online. It's now MOT & Tax exempt and it's not done many miles since the last MOT (a couple of hundred at the most). It's not moved for 18 months, hence me needing a new battery.

And the all important Shrunken head comes with the car
