1963 VW Volkswagen Type 2 Splitscreen 21 Window Samba Deluxe Microbus Camper.
After nearly two years of ownership it's time to pass her on to a new owner!!
Our beautiful 21 window Deluxe Samba is rock solid and has been "sympathetically" restored by us to get her to this condition. trying to keep her in as an original period style as possible.
Correct original colours and probably the best 1960's Splitscreen colour scheme L 380 Turquoise Green (Turkis) bottom half and L 289 Blue White (Blauweiss) top.
We wanted a camper and therefore a camper interior. again we wanted it to look period(ish!) and so she has period inspired "Devon/Canterbury-Pitt" style fitted seat/storage units which convert into a very comfortable double bed. in the tailgate area are two useful good sized drawers for storage with a large cushion above for a child's bed. we bought a hammock for over the front seats and are happy for the new buyer to have it if they want/need it so it could comfortably be a four sleeper.
We decided to upgrade the engine using new 1600 barrels/pistons and whilst the heads were off the valves were re-seated etc. she starts. runs. drives and stops well and is an absolute pleasure to drive on both long and short journeys!
We stripped and rebuilt the sliding roof so it opens/closes as it should and is really easy to use.
We have the build sheet from Volkswagen. she was built at VW Wolfsburg. Germany on the 7 th August 1963 and left the factory on the 17 th August 1963.
Original Factory Fitted options M 025 six pop out windows M 139 Sealed Beam Headlights and red rear lenses(now changed to UK spec amber over red!) M 216 1500 cc engine(now uprated to 1600 cc) and M 374 US package.
Fully UK registered. MOT'd and Taxed.
