1979 Renault Gordini

1979 Renault R17 GordiniThis is a rare find in this condition. The two door, type 1326 Gordini was purchased new by the seller in 1979, First thing he did was Zeibart the underbody of the car, and that shows! (second thing he did was remove the Gordini stickers)The car has been driven 67,000 miles. The last 10 years or so, the owner made it a thing to drive all his cars for at least 1500 miles a year. Until last year he had no problems getting those miles on any of the cars he's selling now. They have been stored in a frost free (heated) garage at his house.His situation has changed, and he has problems driving a stick shift now, and instead of becoming just a caretaker of the vehicles, he decided to sell them and pass over the conservation of his vehicles to another person who hopefully will enjoy them equally as he did.The black over red car presenters very well, as you can see on the pictures. The extremely comfortable red vinyl seats are in excellent condition and support the whole body very nicely. The rear seats are as good as new. (no kids, no pets) The pictures of the interior speak for themselves.The top opens and closes properly with the push of a button. To do that the windows and quarter windows need to be lowered. The force needed on the cranks to do that is astonishingly little; they open extremely smoothly. A hard top made from fiberglass comes with the car.The car has never been in an accident. All glass and lights are original.The engine started up without any hesitation after a long stay in the garage. Clutch works smoothly and the brake pedal is firm. No play in the steering.Idles smooth, good oil pressure and runs very nicely. All gauges are functional and original. The engine is a type 843, based on the famous 807 R12 Gordini 1.6 liter engine, but is equipped with a good functioning fuel injection system. The 5 speed gearbox shifts effortlessly.The owner does not have any documentation of service done to the car. His attitude was, if anything was noticed that was, or might go wrong, he would take care of it. Every two years the oil was changed (Valvoline VR1) and all fluids etc were checked. The cars were all taken to local shows and longer trips to Road America and Montreal etc.During the years of ownership the car was personalized buy the owner. Engine was brought up to European performance standart by removing the emmision ad ons.The car is equipped with four wheel disc brakes.
