1972 Austin Morris Marina 7cwt Van with an 1800 TC fitted..I am reducing my collection of classic cars due to loss of storage, hence the sale. I bought this little van back in 2014 and it has been stored in my dry, insulated garages ever since within my collection. Its an early and very rare Austin van and at the time of purchase 8 years ago, it was believed that only six other Mk1 Austin vans existed. Its a very solid example that was well known within the Morris Marina Owners Club before my purchase as it has been fitted with a 1800 TC engine and driveline, wheels and interior. The van is in exceptional rust free condition for the year with only some evidence of welding done to the n/s/f footwell from my inspection. Otherwise, the van is in very sound condition. So after nearly 8 years of storage, some fresh petrol and a bit of fettling to induce the petrol up to the carbs, with a jump pack, she fired back into life sounding brilliantly. The brake pedal was down but remarkably, the clutch was working so I managed to drive this van out of long term storage. I drove the van onto the lawn, eased the choke down to a semi tick-over, (as you should see in the pictures, we have the ole adaption of "one peg or two pegs" for the choke) as it dosen't hold on very well when you twist it ? so I went down to one clothes peg and took the jump pack off that was balanced just under the bonnet. The ole van ticked over nicely and revved up without fault after all this time. I then drove the van around some more, brakes were all free but I then started to loose the clutch pedal...which I have not looked at yet??It has a full set of 5 TC wheels but one tyre wouldnt hold air so you have 2 TC wheels in the back of the van (plus the car tyre on the n/s front.) The van is obviously going to need a bit of re-commissioning from its long term storage which has definately preserved this little van. The 1800 TC dash and seats etc are all well placed within the van. I believe the previous owner was going to put a back seat in the van so the front section of the rear floor has been removed. If the new owner wanted this section, I do have another van here that I am using for spares and will include the floor section should the reserve be met.     So, a nice early and rare 1972 Austin Marina Van. I am a collector (or was a collector of these vans before loss of storage) and do still own the earliest of these vans known to the club? That is also a 1972 on an "L" registration so I'm not sure where this van comes in the "pecking order" of earliest ?? Its obviously tax free now and MOT exempt as it is classed as "Historic Vehicle" within the V5c held in my name showing only 5 previous owners. As evident in the photo's, this is a very sound van all-round. Viewing recommended and welcome. I will have the van running for you but it will need attention to the brakes and clutch, therefore need trailering away. I can assist with a trusted courier if needed at £1.25 a mile "one way" from the RH7 Lingfield Surrey area if that helps. Moving house and loss of storage is the reason for reducing my collection therefore please see my other items I may have listed. Thanks for looking, please view if interested and good luck with your bids.
