1969 Ex (Essex) Police Mini Cooper S. Project car.  Work on this began 26 years ago, & at the time, after professional advice, it was decided to change the shell as unfortunately the original was so extremely rotten & had also been partially de-seamed. An original 1969 white Mini Super De-Luxe was found to be the shell donor. The original Cooper was stripped & whatever there was of the original Cooper was salvaged before it went. The 1275 S engine i had was regrettably stolen. (I still have the cylinder-head though). The engine currently in place is the original Super De-Luxe 998cc (Was running fine 26 years ago!). Life, family & work etc then took priority & so it was stored both inside garages & outside (under covers) over the years. The floors are unfortunately subject to rot now. It will indeed need floor panels & welding lower down. The O/S front Hydrolastic unit had rusted through & leaked at the hose connection, so it now is 'propped-up' on that side with wooden blocks. (There is a good replacement Hydro' unit). The boot-lid, bonnet & both doors were sprayed in 'two-pack' Old English White all those years ago & have been dry-stored ever since, (they are all in fine condition). The black line mark on the lower right side of the boot lid has been cleaned off now, (was not damaged). Door & rear black trim panels are all present & in good condition. During its last spell outside, instead of leaving the handbrake on it was left in gear, & so now it is 'locked' into 1st gear as the clutch is now stuck. The Minilite wheel is not part of the auction, & will be swapped for an 'S' reverse-rim wheel. There are two reverse rims with the car & two standard Mini wheels. The O/S petrol tank is original.  Unfortunately i can not find the S speedo' or the twin carbs so have to assume that they've gone. The rear seats look fine, the fronts however, need re-covering. In the centre of the last photo with 'odds & sods' is the original 'FE' number metal plate cut from the original shell.  With the papers (Some MOT's, old V5 copies, correspondence etc), there is a photocopy of a photograph of the actual car inside a Police workshop. (Original copy of photo should still be available by request i would think). A couple of other period photos of the car also exist (On my PC). This car, with its history, deserves the time, space & attention that i can not give. It would be wonderful to one day see it back on the road & at a show some time. Needless to say, will need a transporter to collect. Collection within 7 days would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Sorry, no buy-now price. With respect, please understand that i would not wish to be 'haggling' on price after the auction, thanks. Cash on collection please (or bank-transfer).
