1957 Ford Del Rio 2 Door Wagon Del Rio for sale
Current customer rating:
To begin with, the body is in extraordinary, rust-free condition with brand new floors...could very well be the straightest 57 Ford wagon being offered anywhere that is in the project stage. The motor is a 4.6 L Double Overhead Cam/32 Valve V-8 from a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII.....on top is a plenum from a Mustang Cobra...the motor is teamed with the factory 4 R 70 automatic overdrive transmission.....even the original Lincoln driveshaft went along for the ride. The odometer reading on the donor Mark VIII was 60,000 at the time of the transplant...this car has been driven only to load and unload for transport. The compression check for each cylinder showed that each cylinder fell well within the acceptable range 170 to 190 lbs of pressure, so the bottom end is strong... There is a little bit of white smoke that appears when the car is first started, possibly indicating the need for a new head gasket.....hence the extremely low price for the car..the oil is clean and free of coolant and there is no evidence of the car overheating
The dual exhaust system features coated headers, larger diameter pipes and Flowmaster mufflers.
This wagon comes with 4 wheel power disc brakes....and the Lincoln power booster...the front spindles, rotors and calipers all come from a 74-77 Ford Granada...the original 57 Ford suspension components including the upper and lower control arms, ball joints, bushings, etc. have all been rebuilt, plus an oversized sway bar has been added for much improved turning stability...the rear disc brake conversion came as a kit and is linked to the original iconic 57 Ford 9" rear end (3:70) with new axle bearings and seals
The wagon sits and rolls with an aggressive stance on beautiful 18" Boss wheels...tires look good but are old and should be replaced
On the interior, currently there is a Chevy tilt column from a van...the all original dash is uncut, the original gauges are present and working...original radio is not installed but is included
Underneath the rear seat are the computer and control panel from Ron Francis to allow the use of the non-original column and ignition key... repairs will be needed to make the computer/electrical system functional...there may be transmission shifting issue tied to the computer as well...I do not have knowledge of such matters ..I do not know the nature or extent of those repairs
I will not offer this wagon for sale without fully and honestly disclosing everything I know about it...positive and negative...again, it can be driven to assist the loading and unloading process during shipping....but this is NOT A DAILY DRIVER AT THIS POINT
Much of the original interior is present for patterns, including both the front and rear correct factory seats
Included also are about 80% of the exterior Del Rio gold and stainless trim pieces...this wagon has beautiful body lines, so the previous owner filled the mounting holes on the body.. but they could easily be reestablished if desired if going back with original factory side trim
The windshield needs to be replaced, along with the driver side rear quarter glass...the rest of the glass is good
Front and rear bumpers and guards are present with all brackets and are good cores for re chroming
THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO WARRANTY OF ANY TYPE EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED ..I will be happy to assist as needed with the pickup by the shipper.... there is easy access for the truck
The wagon has a clear title in my name, is currently registered....California buyers have an option of N.O.S correct yellow 57 License plates with 57 sticker for an additional cost
IN SUMMARY, EVERY EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE HERE TO BE AS HONEST AND TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE REGARDING ALL REPRESENTATIONS CONCERNING THE PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL CONDITION OF THIS VEHICLE......

This vehicle was purchased with hopes of completing the build, selling it and using the proceeds to purchase food, clothing and other personal items of comfort for homeless and disabled veterans, their families and others in great need...sadly, it is beyond my capabilities and circumstances to continue the project-this will make someone a very rare and desirable 2 door wagon that, upon completion, could easily net $50 K... or more!
